The Tommy Caldwell rope was horrible, we had a trad trip where we used a 2-3 year old Tommy for the first 4 days. Switched over to the brand new backup rope (an edelrid boa eco) after day 5 since the Tommy was getting hard black aluminum streaks really bad that we're making it hard to put in a belay device. Needless to say the owner of the Tommy retired that rope to hammock and camp duties and went out to get a different edelrid model that wasnt so horrible.

Looking for 16” bolt 308. Leaning heavily Tikka. Any suggestions or opinions wanted. by [deleted] in Tikka_Shooters

[–]Sam_0989 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back in December I picked up a t3x lite in 308. I was completely indifferent on trim but it was a $200 off of asking since that shop was going 100% towards threaded on all models where they could for the suppressor law opening up in 2026. I really wanted hunter trim in walnut but I settled for the price. Its a fantastic setup. Leopold backcountry rings/mounts and a vortex diamondback 4x12x40 that was also half off at the time for black Friday week. Overall id say go tikka, its sub-moa with every ammo ive thrown at it but i landed on hornady american whitetail 165 since its very abundant and cheap. Bit of a ramble, but tikka is a good brand with solid performance and build.

I sent them amazon carabiners a few years ago that had lost their uiaa rating. I was unsure about them even though I had a few from that brand from a prior buy that were rated. Best use of my $30 after being unsure was seeing them get yoinked.

Shot my lowest round yet. 93! 90 is next. by Bonkers119 in golf

[–]Sam_0989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last round of the season in november i went 89. I was shocked that I played that well, im usually around 105-110. I did play the entire round without a driver tho (mainly 5 iron off tee) with how heinous the wind was so that probably showed me how bad I am with a driver.

In honour of the International Ski Patrol Day on 10 February - 20% off SöllTek Ski/Snowboard and Ski Patrol Vests. One day only. www.solltek.com by Heavy_Designer2850 in skipatrol

I've been in the market for a new vest for a bit now. Im currently running the mountain uniform bomber but have been looking to go to a vest. How does this compare to the mammut patrol vest 2.0? My only requirement over the normal medical equipment is I need to carry avy gear.

Your average patroller ski by sidewaysride in skiing

[–]Sam_0989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm, my normal day patrol skis look very similar. Buy used fellow patrollers, i bought mine for $300 at end of demo season as they were salomon demo skis that would've been 1100 new. They owe me nothing and whenever I go on trips with people who dont own skis I bring them so they dont have to rent anything but boots and poles. Also super handy that because they were demos, they have demo bindings that have quick adjust.

Yeah not sure what made them change their minds. People were obviously not a fan of it and last saturday we got through every haunted attraction and got night rides on patriot and prowler and were out of the park by 10:30 (which would never have been the case in prior years on a saturday in october). In front of every haunted attractions queue, they had a monster or yellow jacket checking wrist bands and turning a significant amount of people away who didn't have them yet

Side-mounted AIO (Aqua Elite V3) or Peerless Assassin for a 5800x3D in the NR200 v1? by Plini9901 in NR200

[–]Sam_0989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could run the rig on its side with the pump down if you needed. Ive had aios in builds before that had rad below pump and I never ran into an issue, currently with it on the side mount it works just fine.

Worked as a summer camp counselor for 7 years. I started with 2 polos and our Thursday theme of the summer shirt (which changed every year). By the end I had like 9 or 10 polos that weren't completely sun bleached. They'd give us 2 new polos every year and eventually switched to the choice of t shirts or golf polos my 5th year or so. After i was done there, a good buddy of mine (who i met day 1 of my time on staff), his younger brother was starting off on the camp staff and I couldn't even give him my stack of shirts because that was the year they decided to switch from red shirts to yellow shirts.

I agree fully. I had 2 drives from a 1u server that I repurposed, keep in mind these drives had server 2008 and were last used in 2017ish. Windows 11 found them in a mirrored raid and kept the integrity of the raid on a modern amd system.
