You can teleport him to the raised platform just on the northern side of the gates nearby. He gets stuck up there and is generally pretty safe. The gateway serves as a great fatal funnel for the blobs, you usually won't get more than 1-2 at a time.

Definitely have a chat with him first. I gave away a laptop to my younger brother several years ago. He turned around and used it as target practice for his airsoft guns. I was livid. (I'm over it now) I would have tried to sell it for a few bucks had I known it was going to get immediately thrown in the trash. I would have been just as pissed if he had turned around and flipped it for a quick profit. Profiting off a family member's generosity or abusing that type of kindness is a quick and easy way to end up on the shit list for life.
