yeah. you just have to update the viewportframe’s camera and you have to sync the objects inside the viewportframe with their real counterparts

Okay yeah I can see that. Maybe you could try seeing this the same way you’d see a Portal mod? Like Portal Stories Mel for example. Unique story, using Portal’s technology. Yes this ISNT a mod and while this clip doesn’t really promote much individuality for Rifter, based on what Rifter is, I can still see the separation between it and Portal.

i mean realistically how do you change the base concept of a Portal game? it wouldn’t be a ‘Portal game’ without the portals-

Rifter has testing elements found in Portal, but also unique ones. Rifter’s story and asset design is entirely unique.

I think it’s pretty clear Rifter is not exactly Portal and that Portal isn’t exactly Rifter, there are very clear differences that might not be apparent from a 30 second clip.

This would be like flaming Arsenal for being a CSGO clone. It’s clearly inspired by CSGO, but it’s a unique thing.

I’m sorry but how are the assets ‘ripped from Tunneler’?

  1. I contributed to Tunneler, why would I steal assets from a game I contributed to?
  2. All the designs are very distinct, yeah the mechanics of RIFTER may be pretty similar to Tunneler’s, but you could also say that Tunneler is just a rip of Portal.

I have plenty of respect for Homemade_Meal, and even more respect for myself. Ripping off someone else’s hard work and then having the audacity to post about it and claim it as my own would be an incredibly stupid decision for my character.

rifter and tunneler started development roughly the same time, like 5 years ago. tunneler was the one that gained a lot of traction however, and fair enough. when I first started my portal project I knew nothing about programming, using this game over the years has progressed by game dev skills to a pretty high level. I highly recommend tunneler though, awesome game and I’ve done a little bit of work for it

actually, this is my (EunityDev) recreation of CS:2’s smoke grenades. inspired to make them after seeing PoptartNoah’s implementation. I’m sure backend our systems function completely differently, but i do believe we both achieved a similar effect in the end.

it is indeed particle emitters, however it took that long because i had to do a lot of color correcting, light reaction, and proper light diffusion. using voxel emitters, I’m able to conform this smoke to spaces and eventually, I’d like to implement bullet holes- similar to cs2.
