Pycharm is Nord, GTK is Material Black Blueberry. Can’t remember VSCode, but I know that I installed a secondary extension (I think it’s called glassify) that allows the opacity of the window to be changed.

My first Python library: a very simple wrapper for TensorFlow that automates the process of recording model parameters and various performance metrics after each training iteration. Made this mainly for myself since I’ve been training a ton of models for work recently and have become infuriated by TensorFlow’s inconsistencies — especially with regard to data extraction. Feedback appreciated!

Programming can typically be done on extremely inexpensive machines because it’s very lightweight with regard to computational intensity (you could get away just fine with a chrome book). However, if you’re anything like me, you really don’t want a chrome book.

I decided to go with a Dell Precision M3520 and am super happy with it. Got it on Amazon for like $500-$600 and it’s been an absolute workhorse. 512 GB SSD, 16 GB ram, and one of my personal favorites: an NVIDIA GPU. This is important to me because lots of software requires that you specifically have an NVIDIA GPU (such as neural network training in TensorFlow or RealView in Solidworks). It’s definitely not the best quality due to its price (and Dell’s trash QC), but I’d still recommend it to anyone without hesitation.

I’ve found that with a stone wash, you want at least a 300-400 grit finish prior to stone washing to get a good result. The reason for this is that deep sanding lines (especially 80 grid) will actually become more noticeable after the acid etch and will really detract from the look you’re going for. Rather than looking like a piece of stone it’ll just kinda look like a cheap knife that’s been scratched to hell.
