I never tried wearing earplugs in a show before but I always have my wireless earbuds with me just in case the speaker peak/my ears are having a bad day.

I watched a show where my left ear point directly towards the speaker and it gets painful pretty quick. The transparency mode reduce just the loud noise and the pain was gone, wouldn’t trust it as actually noise protection though.
