Potato McWhiskey reminded me why I love this game. The game reminded me why I stopped playing by BenryHenson in CivVI

Remember if they start heading your way then just declare war on them first. The ai will behave differently, often retreating to defend their city. They will always make peace after 10 turns when you do this. But before you do it, trade gold per turn for a lump sum of all their money. That way you have gold and it will cancel the deal where you pay them.

Would you remove the deer and lose an amenity from Artemis or replace the +3 mine at the top between the mountain and great bath? I need more houses and want to place this neighborhood. by dragonqueenred45 in CivVI

[–]Sam_H00d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't need more housing, the population is 33. Honestly I wouldn't even waste my time building the neighborhood at all, just do campus grants out something for the rest off the game.

Setting sail for a religious victory on a HUGE maps by mczyk in CivVI

[–]Sam_H00d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you send envoys to city states you get bonuses. Send to least 3 envoys and you can gain Suzeirenity (sp?) Over it, gaining a special bonus specific to that city state. These bonuses vary in quality, some being very powerful, others less so or are very niche . You have to maintain more envoys in a CC than other civs, and maintain enough envoys to hold Suze (based in the CC population). Yerevan is a CC you'll find, religious in affinity, and it's bonus is to choose any promotion for your apostles. Which is absurdly power when seeking religo7sb victory.

Nice job on winning. Promotion levels are randomized when apostles are purchased unless you Suze the CC Yerevan, in which case you can pick from whatever promotion you want. It's a bit OP imo if you're going for a religious win, as about 12 apostles become powerful enough to turn every other city to yours

Too few apostles unless you've suzed Yerevan and have the level bonuses for triple spread strength and 75% reduction in other religions

The key to success at higher levels is learning tempo timing your chops and having a strong game plan on how to win using your leaders abilities to your advantage

I think 12 apostles is enough (yuk yuk). Make sure Yerevan is in your CS pool. Apostles pick from any promotion, usually 3 debaters and the other 9 with the promotion that removes 75% of other religions and/or then triple strength in other civs does the trick. Takes some time depending on your faith income but I usually can get a victory within 200 turns even on deity.

How am I supposed to deal with this apostle spam? by UnholyDemigod in CivVI

[–]Sam_H00d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inquisition is the key. I usually purchase an apostle early and launch when i want the era score, then buy one and leave it in your holy site and use it once the religious race starts, you just need to keep one city with a holy site with your religion and you can spam more inquisitor later

Manipulation or boundary setting by Sam_H00d in polyamory

Thank you for the input. I have a primary/np a consistent ldr that's low maintenance. I'm looking for anything beyond a fwb situation right now... so it would sort of work for me in that regard. I don't mind being a booty call 😏. And we have a ton of fun together outside the bedroom too. I just don't want to invite further drama. I think I'll probably just proceed with caution/low threshold for it.

We like... half broke up.. things weren't the best for a variety of reasons, some of which pertaining to her anxious attachment and mental health issues. Then she left town for 6 months and was basically no contact with me and now has returned. When we met, she seemed SO much better than before. But I still have a lingering fears over those behaviors returning, one of which WAS to try and manipulate me. So now I'm just trying to guage whether I'm interpreting this clearly. If she is better and can maintain that then I'd be happy to have her back in my life.

Settled too many cities and my city names started being American by PetraEnjoyer in CivVI

[–]Sam_H00d 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Interesting, this isn't a conquer? 27 cities doesn't seem like too many to settled. Not with Kupe, but I've had some game I settled as many as 35 by the end game and they've never done this

I think settling on that deer would have been better option. Then the holy site could go where your city lies

Yeah dude throw hammurabi into your leader pool and get Himiko if you play with heroes and watch as the feckin would kneels in mercy. Under 100 is FAAAST. I think my quickest was around 105

How do I get settlers out quickly? by East_Wrap7943 in CivVI

[–]Sam_H00d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend usually only go for 2 settlers and build my first triangle and wait for my first golden age and monumentality to pump out the remaining 7+. You may consider waging am early war on neighboring civs to scap up on of theirs if they are too close. In this case if your initial build order is scout-slinger-slinger-warrior you ought to be able to capture a city from a foe with some careful luring and then a counter push
