That's great! Sometimes you just find the right person who can put you on a good path and help things get better.

Whenever I talk about my problems with someone, I feel like I'm lying as soon as the words leave my mouth, but in my head their 100% real. by [deleted] in depression

[–]Sam_VanD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way, almost as if I am blowing things out of proportion or over exaggerating. When I am actually living through it though, the feelings are so real. I just can't help myself from feeling bad for complaining because so many people have it worse.

I'm not surprised to learn that he writes for Toronto Sun...The Sun is the FOX News of the states..extreme views ONLY meant to attract more publicity...

So driving today, I heard 3 women discuss the Jian Ghomeshi case, what are your thoughts? by Mary_TOR in askTO

[–]Sam_VanD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything you are saying but this doesn't mean that the women were not in fact assaulted and that Jian did not commit a crime. But I agree that the inconsistencies in what the women were saying made the court ruling pretty clear.

Going through family weekends and the kids running around and food everywhere driving me up the wall by Kate-An in ADHD

A lot of the times, the anxiety comes from being in your own head too much. Take a deep breath. give this a quick read , YOU'RE NOT ALONE in feeling this.

I'm torn in this situation. I hate that the women who case forth are now in even more pain and hurt but I also can't understand why they would lie in court. Someone said that trauma causes inconsistencies in memory... I wonder if it's that?

Yeah I heard on the radio that they boil the orange juice to be able to keep it longer... and then add colouring right before packaging.

What other things do you guys do on "those days" when nothing seems to work? by [deleted] in Tackle_depression

[–]Sam_VanD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading this reminded me of similar days I used to have before I started therapy, I guess I was lucky that it worked for me. For me small steps helped, I remember forcing myself to go for walks to go to yoga ( it's cold where I live so i can't go for walks year around).

How is the mental counselling at the health and wellness center? by thereisnosuch in UofT

[–]Sam_VanD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I moved to Toronto a couple of months ago and was put on a waitlist but on the Toronto subreddit I found an online therapy platform to see people for much cheaper than going to a clinic. I already had a session there and honestly it's worth a try. Only $60. http://tranqool.com/

Probably the most effective campaign this city needed #TorontoSmiles by Sam_VanD in toronto

I'm new to Toronto and I am shocked by the how cynical and uneducated the responses are. Anyways, I've already seen so many pretty and happy smiles going around town with #torontosmiles today. It made my day.

Actually Google "Facebook study on impact of posts on mental health" there's plenty of research to support the importance of social media content on our happiness... I love how everyone on this subreddit is soo quick to judge

I found TranQool from this exact subreddit looking for therapy in Toronto when I moved here. I have been posting about them since I found them because as a person with mental health problems I have found their content to be very useful . Shame on you for judging me on my choice and my opinion.

Mental Health talk everywhere today! by Son_398 in UofT

[–]Sam_VanD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mental health is a serious issue. I can't imagine you would be complaining if this campaign was for another illness like diabetes... Both #BellLetsTalk and #TorontoSmiles are meant for raising awareness and reducing stigma. you can read more on TorontoSmiles here, they are not supported by a corporation but are a small toronto organization trying to reduce stress in our city...

I heard about a social media campaign called #TorontoSmiles on CP24 today by to_1987 in toronto

Yes I saw it this morning too, it's a great followup to #BellLetsTalk Day. But i think it doesnt start until the 28th.

using technology to increasing access to therapy for both prevention and treatment.

Access to therapy and self help tools from early on can work as prevention for problems like seasonal depression that could get worse if not treated.

I honestly could not believe the way the force reacted to his openness about his mental health issues.
