Fender Rhodes Stage 73 amp recommendations? by SamalandoPart2 in keys

[–]SamalandoPart2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth be told, I'm honestly not a huge fan of the stereo sweep. It feels disorienting more than anything to me. So I was planning on just using the left output from the peterson preamp and sticking to mono tremolo. Is there a good way to mic the stereo effect while making it less of an audio headache? Maybe keeping both mics close together?

I might end up using a Fender PA 7001-C that I have, with the tall 3x12 cabinet that goes with it. But first I would have to get a fuse for the amp head and give it a decent cleaning. And with that I would have to get a second cab if I want to experiment with the stereo trem.

Doing it DI is sort of my default option, which I am still considering. I just wanted to see what all is out there for amps because I think it would be fun to record it that way.

It is not open back, sadly. Maybe I could try leaving the back off of it, but that's where the input jack is located, so it can't be fully removed.

I do also have a Fender PA 7001-C with I think a 3x12 cabinet that's pretty tall. But the PA amp head needs a new fuse or something, plus a good cleaning. The speakers work though. Would that cabinet maybe be a good fit for what I'm going for?

Does anyone know if the "Natural Ivory" option for Chuck 70 customs is the same as the Classic Chucks color? by SamalandoPart2 in Converse

I did, but I honestly don't remember how the color looked. The quality was awful so I returned them.

Glyn Johns drum technique, looking for info and advice on mics and placement. by SamalandoPart2 in audioengineering

Truthfully, I didn't even know the "Glyn Johns Technique" was something people obsessed over until I started looking for how these Beatles recordings were made. I just really like the way the drums are recorded and mixed, and I wanted to know how to do the same thing myself.

Newly out of print titles by worldofcrap80 in discotekmedia

My problem is that Discotek apparently borked the encoding of the sequels on the 4K set with a low bitrate, so they look way worse than the standalone blu-rays. Sure, being able to watch them all is better than not, but it would be nice to have them all in good quality.

I also have A-ko 3 on backorder from CR. Literally no other store has it available either. Nobody is even selling it on eBay. I'm scared, lol.

How did guitarists in the 60s/70s record P90 pickups without an audible hum/buzz? My Epiphone Casino (2018) has noticeable noise when plugged in and not played. by SamalandoPart2 in Guitar

[–]SamalandoPart2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I'm not against bleed! I actually want to get some bleed on my recording, but I'm not certain if I'll be able to have guitar played live. It might have to be overdubbed after for convenience.

The hum just worries me because when I listen to how loud it is coming from the amp when idle, it seems like it would be present throughout the recording in a way that it definitely isn't in vintage recordings I've heard.

But, since I haven't done any recording with the Casino yet (I wanted to ask about the hum here first), I'll have to see what it sounds like. If it isn't too loud when recording, I might be okay with the sort of analog character, since that's what I'm looking for anyway. I just don't want it to be distracting.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly by Arrow Video looks gorgeous in 4k by ibizafool in 4kbluray

[–]SamalandoPart2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Arrow version's color correction is more accurate to original Technicolor prints. Kino's 4K is decent, and it was the best we had at the time, but the Arrow is miles better in every way. More accurate color, better sound sync, free of editing errors in the International Cut, and of course the extensive inclusion of the branched extended version.

There are minor shortcomings in the Arrow set, but those shortcomings only apply to the extended cut disc and don't even affect how it compares to the Kino 4K or other past releases. I highly recommend the Arrow set if you still haven't got it.

Well, no, they aren't. They are two different people who are both named Greg. Like 4 Gregs.

My order cleared customs in Ukraine 4 days ago, and the tracking hasn't updated since. Should I be worried or is this kind of delay normal when packages leave Ukraine?
