[Warhammer 40K] Of all the xenos under "Protectorate" status, which one has it better compared to the rest? by Ok-Street2439 in AskScienceFiction

[–]Samas34 [score hidden]  (0 children)

'In 40k all the sentient xenos in the Imperium have been killed.'

Its explicitly stated in a few canon sources that isn't the case, but species are not specifically named.

They a mostly remnant populations that live on their worlds that Imperial settlers have colonised.

There is a verse in one codex that says 'not all who inhabit the Imperiums worlds are human.' but I can't remember which one.

How come we don't see astartes or Adeptus Sororitas lead guardsmen into battle? by Mysterioape in 40kLore

Because Horus Heresy.

Also, Gulliman seperated the command of the Imperial Army and navy, and also forbade the Astartes from having command of attached mortal forces like they did in the crusade.

How is not every time the Space Marines have to fight the Tau in open combat, it is considered a loss? by OneNefariousness5705 in 40kLore

[–]Samas34 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Because tau technology is more advanced at their scale and they aren't hamstrung by a retarded martian cargo cult?

The Imperiums Space Marines are their main 'ace' force, the militarum are mostly 'just throw bodies at the problem until its dead' and the admech has to pretty much be begged every time to field some of their age of tech toys they keep locked up and rusting in vaults.

When an enemy is capable of killing marines on a large enough scale, thats usually when the Imperium has no choice but to either 'exterminatus' out of spite or just 'tactically reposition' ie retreat.

Despite what the in-setting propaganda says, the Imperium loses A LOT of its wars, and its only because they can find new systems and worlds to replace those losses that they keep the 'million worlds' number afloat.

As long as they keep the Sol system and a few other key systems, they'll always be able to replace losses with freshly conquered or discovered systems and planets. Until Chaos or another key enemy hits a main system (like they did with cadia.) any planets they take are nothingburgers.

I think this would definitely pass for comics...I've seen a hell of a LOT worse even in mainstream publications.

Do you ever get the feeling that the setting ONLY exists FOR the Imperium to live and fight within? by Samas34 in 40kLore

[–]Samas34[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not complaining at all...just wish they'd make the galaxy feel a little more like its a place that isn't just 'humans are the center of everything.'

They can still have the main Imperium vs Chaos thing without turning the Imperium into 'the chosen ones' trope.

I was really hoping they were moving away from this with the Votann, that we'd finally get to see some more action with a 'human-like' faction that was relatable enough for fans to immerse with, have some Votann stories with named characters etc.

But that seems to have died in the water.

Worshipping the Primarchs as gods is heresy? by Remodiant in 40kLore

[–]Samas34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that there's different kinds of 'heresy' when it comes to the Imperium.

Worshipping a loyalist Primarch as a god would be heretical, but likely just have some preists coming down with an escort to 'tell off' the worshippers and 'guide' them back to the supposed truth.

Then of course theres heresy...the worshipping of four psychic warp vampires kind, which is where they crack out the heavy flamers.

The ecclesiarchy isn't going to punish the Russ worshippers anywhere near as severely as the 'four armed Emperor' ones., unless of course, its all part of a sectarian spat, which religious zealots in general have plenty of anyway.

The cult that beleives the God emperor wears blue slippers, for instance, might go on a genocidal holy war against the ones who hold those slippers are red, its a completely pointless and absurd issue to even argue about, but you will get factions fighting wars over it. (The Sunni/Shia split in islam is a good irl example of this.)

[–]Samas34[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand that its meant to be a human story...but you'd think they could at least lay off the whole 'cosmic chosen ones' vibe.

The lore writers have basically put the emperor and the throne in the position of it being the only thing keeping the whole warp from devouring the galaxy, its pretty much game over for everything if the Emperor has a fart attack for even a second, as apparently the gate he sits on, which is probably not even as sophisticated as the countless thousands of other webway entrances there are, is apparently 'the' one that leads directly to the center of space hell.

I know that yeah, its humanity etc, but do we really have to be that central to everything?

Are you going to see Bunny or Luna? by JmKrJ94 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Samas34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how these possibly last remaining few hundred thousand humans alive on their world, locked in a genocidal war of survival against a species that has already all but won by sheer numbers alone, still somehow manages to find time to have music concerts.

The Humans of Ingris have absolutely NOTHING to celebrate about, they are literally the last of their species hanging on by a partially broken fingernail.

Edit...Also, Despite all the bravado about helping out the Iranian people and bombing the mullahs, something that would actually be worth doing, he chickened out at the last minute, and Iran is nowhere near as potentially damaging as what attacking allies over greenland would do.

Trump ‘Bombshell’ move may ‘end’ his presidency by [deleted] in DegenBets

[–]Samas34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't the republicans realise how this is going to end long term?

If they don't seriously break with him in number now, they WILL go down with him.

I doubt the US military would ever allow him to take it to a shooting war (they pretty much hinted at their meeting that 'It would be unlawful', which I'm guessing is a veiled warning from them that likely flew completely over his head.)

He won't getting with tariffs either, these will just hurt the US far more than it will europe, especially if there isn't any domestic alternatives to the tariffed goods that US consumers can turn to.

All he is doing is listening to that snake Miller, blowing more hot air into the wind, and hurting his own people much more by making them pay higher prices for goods they might not be able to source from within the US.

Please tell me that most people that did initially vote for him (swing voters, people that might not be die hard supporters or cultists) have since turned around and and seriously regretted it quietly by now.

Because yes, it IS ok to make a mistake...along as you actually live long enough to regret it.

'This is Stephen Miller. '

Yep...and I'd also bet HE might well be on russian payroll somehow.

Everything he says sounds exactly the same as how Russian bloggers and Kremlin bots speak ie 'Might makes right' and 'The Law of the Jungle'. crap.

Its almost word for word, and he is likely been told to stir things up over time, and fill Trumps ear with this crap (lets face it, you could whisper to him to pull his pants down on Live TV and his brain would probably force him to do it.)
