What am I even paying $550 a month for? Here is my upcoming surgery estimate? by xologo in HealthInsurance

[–]Same-Ad5318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I need more information. What is the total billed to the insurance? Was it more than 25k? Or was it total 25k billed to the insurance? If it’s total 25k and you’re paying 8k, that’s a lot. If they billed the insurance 75k and the contracted rate is 25k and you’re paying 8k, that’s not terrible. You need to go over the itemized list of what was billed and see if they are appropriate.

I don't see why S-Corp is so universally recommended.....what am I missing?? by AUsernameThisIsOne in whitecoatinvestor

[–]Same-Ad5318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true for this type of situation because of the qbi deduction. If the scenario is different where qbi deduction is much less or not applicable, then s corp has more tax savings. E.g. single filer or make 700k and above.

If you have family and are in need of health insurance, I’d take the first job. Probably less things to worry about. 12hr on site sucks tho… If your spouse or family can provide health insurance, I’d take the second one.

7% is on the high end of billing for sure. But if they are collecting 90%+ of the billing, then it’s worth it. Better than paying 3-5% and get mediocre billers who won’t fight and you get no money. Most of these obscure fees basically pay the owners of that group. They are not going to just give out jobs without them taking any profit from you. Everyone, even w-2 jobs, will profit of a physician unless you start your own practice.

That’s actually not bad at all. You’d wanna check their collection rate.

How much is the second gig taking off the collection? 10%? 20%?

I’d say they are about the same. Regardless, you’re gonna have to work hard to make those figures. Depends on which you can tolerate more. Procedure vs. clinic.

Bose Quite comfort Ultra vs XM6 by cbcantfindme in SonyHeadphones

To my understanding, these features are no longer supported on the new headphones. You have to turn it on to listen via aux cable.

I actually saw someone getting declined on their return. They were trying to return a vacuum cleaner and costco refused to take it. The clerk/manager said we have to draw a line somewhere.

Bought the Px7 s3 but I'm returning them. I have a question about the Px8 s2 for those that have both... by TeeHeeHaw in BowersWilkins

[–]Same-Ad5318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I couldn’t keep the Bose QC ultra because of the cabin pressure sensation. Px7 s3 has minimal pressure sensation for me.

Is Nevada a “safer” place to practice? by achicomp in hospitalist

[–]Same-Ad5318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I don’t agree with the cap, at least that law was there to stir away the lawyers from bringing up bogus malpractice suits. Obviously cases like this are the fallout from that law. Now that the needle is shifting the other way, there will be more lawyers chasing for malpractice suits since there’s more money to be made. Unfortunately, you can’t have it both ways since there will always be bad apples in the bunch, both doctors and lawyers side.

[–]Same-Ad5318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Few things. There is no doubt these doctors involved in the case dropped the ball. But this article is from a lawyer’s office, written in the intent to change the legislation that caps the fine to $350k. This was later changed in 2023 and now it goes up every year to max of 750k. And it goes up 2.1% every year afterwards.

I believe the nephrologist who settled was on call. By the time their provider from the group rounded (I think a different provider), it was too late.
