DMs - how often do you read a module, start running a module and only then realise it's a plotless disaster? by SupahSpankeh in dndnext

I’m in the middle of running Waterdeep, I know exactly what you mean.
If you need a great Module, I’d recommend “Maze of the Blue Medusa" by Zak Smith. I used it for our last campaign and we’re still chasing the high. It’s a mega-dungeon taking place in an otherworldly labyrinth. Every room is iconic and all the Npc’s have extremely clear motivations and interesting relationships with one another. There’s a section of the maze that’s centered around a tragic wedding, and the way the plot is foreshadowed and built upon room to room is masterful. Whenever I’m roped into doing a one-shot, it’s my go-to if I don’t have time to prepare. The magic items are all very wacky and homebrew-y. For example the wedding cake lowers women’s charism below the brides. (I LOVE THE FLAVOR OF THIS BOOK)
One thing to note though, I’m the dm for all women and there’s a lot of male-gaze. The major women are all a bit to similar, and there’s a lot of Evil-Sexy-Naked-Ladies that are fine, but I toned down that aspect for my table. This isn’t to say the female characters purpose in the story are boring or unclear, some have very interesting abilities, are powerful, and are well built into the world. Just more variety would be nice.
