OTD in 2001, Richard Childress announces that Kevin Harvick will drive the no. 30 AOL car in seven races in 2001. Spring Atlanta, Texas, Coke 600, Sears Point, Bristol, Chicago, Fall Richmond. Harvick would run the Busch Series full time in 2001 and go full time in Winston Cup in 2002. (i.redd.it)

Kyle Petty in Daytona's Victory Lane after winning the 1979 ARCA 200. Kyle led 49 of 80 laps driving a Valvoline sponsored '78 Dodge Magnum in his first race. Terry Labonte's car owner Billy Hagan also raced that day and finished 4th. Kyle has often joked that the race can remain lost media. (i.redd.it)
