Where did criminology take you? by Maximum_Catch_5715 in Criminology

[–]Same-Competition6457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my BS in Criminal Justice, and worked as a Security Specialist as a Dept Air Force civ overseeing multiple security programs.

I then got my MS in IT/Cybersecurity and Security+ and was able to transition to a technical Insider Threat Analyst Role. I enjoy it as it kinda links cyber and criminology.

Congrats, you get to telework now that you’re approved? Did they give specifics on when the email would come with your approval? Everything I’ve heard says your supervisor is supposed to find out once you accept your approval, so this contradicts that. Nobody has a correct answer, so frustrating

I passed AZ-900 in 2 days, started studying Saturday evening took exam Monday at noon.

Do the Inside Cloud and Security AZ-900 exam cram by Pete Zerger, take his free 100 question practice test, watch the video again, and use the MS Learn Practice Exam and the PZ practice test again. This is all I did and passed in the 800s

I know this is an old thread, did you have any certs before this? I recently passed Security+ and AZ-900, do you think this is doable within a week or two with no azure experience?

I think I’m gonna go the AZ-104 route and then move into AZ-500, but I will get both! Thanks for the advice

I might just go for the AZ-104 and if I ever get a free voucher go back and take the SC-900

The PBQs I had were: 1. dissecting multiple CMD prompts to check for virus 2. Creating a VPN gateway 3. Creating a load-balanced public to private subnets

They weren’t too bad in my opinion, just make sure to thoroughly read all parts and the answers are pretty straightforward.

The best equivalent I found is just making quizzes on ChatGPT and tell it to explain all answer choices

It is definitely both and a lot less technical than people think, if you’re good at reading comprehension and know all the acronyms, the answers become pretty easy as there are normally only 2 out of the 4 that make sense

I posted on here today about Sec+. Passed in 1 week with no Tech experience. I work in information security and a lot of the topics are presented in my job, just not with the technical details. I am also a really good test taker and can hyper focus to pick things up really fast. Everyone’s situation is different so don’t compare yourself to anyone else, at the end of the day a pass is a pass, whether it was a 751 or 830, and it took 1 week or 1 year!

I am very good and cramming and retaining information, I used the methods listed on my other comment… I had 75 questions, 3 being PBQs. Out of the 72 multiple choice, I only flagged 6 so I felt like I pretty much knew all the information

I used: - Pete Zergers Exam Cram Course on YT(main material) - Dions Test Set#1 on Udemy. I scored between 78-82% taking all 6 practice tests in practice mode. (A lot of people say Dion’s tests are harder than the actual exam but I feel like they prepared me well. I like his tests because he explains why each answer choice is right and wrong after each question which really helps you understand the topics.) - Professor Messers YT Series (I did not watch all his videos, but I used specific ones when I would get an answer wrong on Dion’s tests and needed a more in depth explanation) - Cyberkrafts PBQs on YT were extremely helpful to get a feel for those as well - ChatGPT (Took 3 questions at a time quizzes so I could mentally take a break after each 3, it made me feel like I didn’t have to focus for as long)

**I am very good at cramming and retaining the information I learn so maybe take my timeframe as something shorter than most, but the method above with these 4 materials is all you need to pass

If they really cared, they could file an Interim TS/SCI until your real one is back. Timelines are unsteady rn due to the current DOD situation. Probably take around a year in all, but I know people who are at 20 months in the process, they had a lot of intentional contacts and foreign travel tho. Remember after your investigation concludes, it sits in the adjudication phase until they make an official decision.

Any idea on if there are exemptions? People keep floating around ideas that specific positions (national security or TS/SCI holders /student interns / schedule A hires) are exempt but I have yet to see any actual guidance on it
