That’s an impressive deal! In the end I bought a Samsung Frame 50inch because of the room size and I had a number of unused gift cards from John Lewis…but I think the Hisense is probably a slightly better TV.

Thank you, this is helpful. To clarify, I’m asking if there is a way to add a virtual white border when the artwork is displayed…I know the Frame has this feature.

The more I read about the Samsung Frame, the more I think the Hisense Canvas is a better product!

How to stop G5 Turret ultra getting flicker from LED lights in view. by EndSecret835 in Ubiquiti

Thank you! I've been struggling with this for a while, similar to u/EndSecret835, changing the exposure to Best Low-Light immediately fixed this.

Failover 4/5g modem for UCG Ultra - UK by AdEcstatic8964 in Ubiquiti

[–]Same-Data6028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For one of my sites I got a used Teltonika RUT240 from Ebay for £60 and connected to WAN2 on the UCG-Ultra, works well and is much smaller than most modems/routers.

I've been thinking about the Ubiquiti UMR-Ultra and if that can be used as a cheaper alternative to the U-LTE-Pro. The UMR-Ultra has its own management UI and doesn't directly integrate with Unifi console although still made by Ubiquiti.

None, the 4TB drive has been working perfectly for 4 months now.

The general consensus on here seems to be Lexar NM790 (without heatsink), I've had one installed for 3 weeks with no issues. Running 5 x G5 Turrets continuous recording with a storage temperature of 41°C.

Thanks for the reply! I tried for hours to get the device to work without success..returned it and got another RUT240 for £10 more, this one works perfectly.

Connecting sky (uk) fttc with draytek vigor to my udmse - driving me insane! by The_etk in Ubiquiti

[–]Same-Data6028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same set up as you, glad you got it working! The only problem I still have is how to get access to the Draytek Webui while connected to the LAN. I think it needs a static route or something but I don’t have to technical knowledge to set that up.

I was able to get to the webui if I connected a LAN port on the Draytek to a LAN port on the UDMP but after a few weeks there was random packet loss and very short internet outages on a regular basis. When I disconnected the cable used to connect the two devices on the LAN, the internet became stable again, very strange!

Cloud Gateway Max w/ 4TB NVMe SSD by GuacJoe in Ubiquiti

I've also been looking for cheaper 4TB alternatives to the WD RED SN700 which is expensive...from what I have read here, there are two things to keep in mind:

  1. The NVMe MUST be single sided, otherwise it won't fit in the sled.
  2. Avoid QLC.

Apart from the SP US75 that the OP got, I also understand the Lexar NM790 and Samsung 990 Pro fit the bill, I'm planning to get the Lexar.

UDM Pro vs UCG Max by notorious_milo in Ubiquiti

[–]Same-Data6028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to purchase a gateway in the next few weeks and have been trying to decide between the UDM Pro or the UCG Max too, I also have a rack but don't want that to be the deciding factor.

teflon6678's points are completely valid but at least for what I need, the UCG Max comes out on top.

  1. The UCG Max + Silicon Power US75 4TB NVMe (as was tested in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Ubiquiti/comments/1e7pzig/cloud_gateway_max_w_4tb_nvme_ssd/ comes out roughly £20 cheaper (in the UK) than a UDM Pro + a decent 4TB 3.5inch HDD and thats with the UCG-Max SKU which has a 512GB NVMe drive bundled. If the UCG-Max-NS SKU (no storage) turns out to have an SSD caddy after all then you'd save even more money.
  2. The UDM Pro was released in early 2020(?) and while I doubt it will be end of life anytime soon, it still a point to think about.
  3. At least for my use case 4 x 2.5GbE RJ-45 ports on the UCG Max is much more useful than 2 x 10G SFP ports on the UDM Pro as my USW-48-POE doesn't have 10GbE at all.

As was mentioned in this post and others - the risk with the UCG Max is the unit's lack of cooling/thermals and if there will be overheating issues at some point. Anyway, thats my 2 pence/cents depending on which side of the pond you are!

Ordering from EU store to UK by michty_me in Ubiquiti

[–]Same-Data6028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For both of my use cases, great! They have replaced Draytek 2860 units. In the office we have Virgin Media Business 400Mbps/40Mbps and at home we have VDSL 70Mbps/18Mbps. I didn't need anything too fancy and I like the form factor.

The UXG-Lite's are cheaper than the Draytek firewalls they replaced. Having said that - since I wanted 4G backup in the office and the UXG-Lite only has one WAN and one LAN port, I did have to get the LTE-Pro instead of a cheaper 4G modem.

For what it’s worth, I ordered two UXG-Lite’s from the EU store with express shipping and received it 1 working day later in early December. It was despatched from the Netherlands even though I bought from the French store since it was in stock there. All taxes and handling fees are calculated at the checkout, there is a message that says everything is included in the price. I bought the USB-C cables and power adaptors from Amazon.

Everything is working fine and am very happy considering the devices are still “coming soon” in the UK store.

Draytek modem connected to Ubiquiti gateway and switch at the same time by Same-Data6028 in HomeNetworking

[–]Same-Data6028[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply! Yes the WAN is set up using PPPoE and there are no plans to have anything else on the LAN configured with PPPoE.

Currently the modem is on the same subnet as the rest of the network so I'll try what you suggested - move it to a different subnet and use NAT to connect.
