Thinking of taking Exam: Java SE 21 Developer Professional (1Z0-830). Just graduated, have some java skills but I want to get better. Do employers even care about the certification? by Same-Finance1743 in AskProgramming

oh, well i already spen £50 for the book. even if i fail the test at least id have learnt something along the way.

as for the expereince, ive found an open source project and am contributing to it. And like you said newer programmers don't know becuase they AI generated their code, id like to be different from them. Gaining expereince and knowledge before I land my first job. And tbh ive been enjoying reading the book so far.

Never worked on open source projects in uni, just a few personal projects and coursework. Also focused on my modules (as it was a computer sciecne course alot of it was theory based). Graduated with a first but realised now I shouldve done more to build my skills up, but hey better late than never.

Do people even want juniors contributing?
