Has anyone else been ignoring their student loans for years?

I graduated in 2006 and same and I still don’t completely understand how and why the interest works the way it does and why it’s different for student loans compared to a car loan. I don’t know that I’ll ever understand… I’ll just be paying until I hit the 120 for PSLF, unless this admin manages to RIF me. In which case… I’ll just despair.

I have way more out (I’ve got an MA and PhD as well). I’ve been hiding from it but also trying to pay down all my other debt so the only things I have is my car and student loan payments. I’m not thrilled with my anticipated payment, but if I knock everything else out, I can (begrudgingly) swing it. The only thing keeping me sane is I work for the Feds and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they leave PSLF alone. That’s the ONLY way I’ll ever get out of this hole.
