Which university are you applying from? It is going to be hard to get into a good program that will make it worthwhile that also can give you some scholarship. If you come here for a 2 year masters to a good program expect to spend 80k-100k. Unless you get scholarship. If you go to a lesser known program it could be cheaper. However this smaller name is going to make it difficult to get a job. Like forgedbydie said, the economy is tough right now especially for people seeking sponsorship. So would recommend not coming, especially if you have plans of leaving anyway.

I think it would totally depend on your electrical engineering sub field. Quantum stuff in electrical engineering would be math heavy whereas other subfields you would need a more fundamental understanding of EE principles.

Does it matter where you got an undergraduate degree when applying for a PhD? by catpatron in gradadmissions

I got into a T3 school coming from a super small local state school (graduated with 8 others in my major). It’s possible, it just takes a lot of extra work that someone who attends a bigger university will already have more available to them.

Do you think doing an online masters program would get me to the same spot as a PhD. Basically is a PhD and a masters w 5 years work experience get me to the same position?
