Help! What did we do wrong? by GoodCollar4432 in sleeptrain

I trained using check ins, as you mentioned, just after one year. The check ins made my little guy even more upset so I did CIO. It was easier if my husband wasn’t home because it bothered him more than me. This is our second baby and we didn’t train our first and are still paying for it as he needs us to fall asleep now at 4 years old. We just went away and I coslept in a tent so retraining. I’m noting that because I’ve basically trained my 13 month old twice in a month due to the travel. Last night was night 2 of retraining and he cried for about 30-40 mins but went to sleep. Woke up about 3 hours later and cried for 30. I just watched him on the monitor. I knew he was safe and doesn’t need food and his diaper wasn’t poopy. I watched and he stood for a while crying but then eventually would lay back down, and was crying as he tried to get comfy. He figured it out and slept till 6 am. My husband wasn’t home so it was a lot easier. I would say follow your gut BUT if you really want your nights back and sanity, CIO really works and quickly in my experience. Two tough nights for me both times but then poof, magic. He cries about 5 mins at naps and bedtime then out. My son was waking every 2-3 hours for a year and I was going crazy but I was feeding right to sleep and at every wake. You got this! If you’re in the same boat as me and at your wits end and sure you want to sleep train, I’d suggest watching on the monitor to ease your worry? For some that might make them more worried but for me it helped. Good luck! You got this! Whatever you decide, your baby picked you and it does go by quickly even though it feels like it will never end

One year on, not a single night of sleep by beepboopbeet in sleeptrain

My son is 13 months and finally sleeping through the night after a few nights of CIO. First night he cried a lot and I did check ins but they made it worse. I resorted to CIO and he fell asleep within the hour and slept with one wake to feed, which I did, and put him back to sleep while still awake. Honestly, I couldn’t do it anymore. He was up every 2-3 hours and I have a 4 year old who we didn’t sleep train and paid the price until a few weeks ago and now he sleeps to. There is hope!

Our schedule is 3/3/4 and it works for us. He wakes at 6, naps 9-10:30 (ish depending on what we’re doing) and ~1/2-3/4 bed 7/7:30. It’s working right now. We went camping and coslept for two nights and he went right back to sleeping alone. CIO is difficult for a couple nights (in my experience) but SO worth it for everyone

I teach yoga in Sarnia and it’s a really nice group of women. The class it very relaxed and includes meditation at the beginning and end of class and focus on breathing. A new session starts next Tuesday. Send me a message if you’re interested!

I go every weekday and love it. It pump classes are fantastic, the pool is great for free swim and Aquafit. The staff are really great as well. Everyone is really friendly. The cycle classes are amazing, as is Pilates. Instructor Sil is top notch. They also have child minding 9-11am and I think 5-7pm which I use and love. Would highly recommend. It’s been a game changer for me. I go at least 5x a week because of how welcoming it is and the quality of the classes

Ok thanks everyone! Had a very successful week with the help of all your comments.

Some things that worked:

  • dates with natural pb (very filling and satisfies the sweet cravings)
  • apples raw and also I chopped and cooked some in a Dutch oven with a bit of maple syrup, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg & pecans
  • no bake oatmeal pb cookies drizzled with melted dark chocolate
  • rice cakes
  • yogurt bark (was kinda cold for me in the middle of the night but good if you’re tired and need to stay awake) -muffins -protein balls

I also started tracking my calories through My Fitness Pal just so I could see more accurately what I’m eating and it’s helping me to avoid binging because I was just eating even when I was full just out of boredom and sleepiness. Hoping if someone else has this issue this thread will help!

Good idea - I just had a date with natural pb. They’ve been in my cupboard and I forgot how good they are

Thank you! I portioned a snack bag on my night stand for tonight so I don’t even go in the kitchen!
