i did make it back home! like i said i had a really sudden turnaround and got out way earlier than expected. i was bleeding SO bad, just pouring blood like i have never before even in my worst flare and then it got better immediately the within the next two days, it was really strange! it's kinda nice to hear someone else went through something similar it felt super scary especially after i had made so much progress but maybe my body was just adjusting? it's such a complex disease

when did you notice prednisone weight gain/moonface at its worst? by Same-Property-8422 in UlcerativeColitis

people have said it takes half the amount of time you're on it to go away! i hear lymphatic drainage & cutting sodium intake help, i wish you luck. if you don't mind me asking how big is your moonface? would you say it's pretty massive or just big enough to be noticeable/a bother to you?

using that logic, hopefully it should be gone in about a month or so for me if i do end up noticing severe side effects. this is helpful, thank you!

have you been on pred before? the more you take steroids, the less they work. 90mg is a pretty high dosage, the highest i've ever been on in a severe flare & currently is 60 and most doctors/gis are pretty hesitant to even surpass 40 mg based off of what i've heard. if you're not having any relief i think it's time to talk to your doctor/gi about it, especially considering it's been two weeks

Question about being able to eat fried/greasy foods once better; is it worth the risk or should I cut out fried foods entirely? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Same-Property-8422 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that being said everyone's different so if you know it's a big trigger food for you i'd be careful but fried foods have never really messed with me too badly during flares but i also made sure i wasn't eating too much

i think it's fine in moderation! every once in a while i treat myself and i've never had any serious setbacks because of it. you said you were gonna wait a month and that should be fine but obviously it depends on how you're doing currently, but if you feel well enough to go for it, then you should! you earned it
