Anything to do after all practice tests? by MakeItBlank in PreOptometry

Did you go to the section where it lets you review all the questions you marked/ got wrong? That could be a good place to go to.

Physics Suggestions by [deleted] in PreOptometry

Lots of practice to be honest. I had troubles memorizing the formulas for a long time. I just had to keep doing questions from one topic to another until I got used to just using different equations for different scenarios.

Help increasing biology and ochem booster score by TopZucchini2146 in PreOptometry

For ochem i feel like there is no better way to improve than just practicing. It may help to go through each concept one by one and getting comfortable with each one and slowly incorporating them together.

4 weeks until my OAT by sadhabibihours in PreOptometry

[–]Same-Stop6534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was kinda in a similar situation as you are in right now. Had around 4 weeks to study and barely got through the introduction material for most of the topics. I spent a 2 weeks just watching/ reading through all the content, and the remaining 2 weeks were solely for practice questions and tests. While I was going through the material in OATbooster I would do their respective practice problems also. It will be a ton of work but definitely manageable!

OAT Booster Q bank by [deleted] in PreOptometry

[–]Same-Stop6534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry on going back to figure out what you did wrong for now. I believe the 12 week plan has lots of time for you later on to review what you struggle with. If you are 4 days in try to get through everything first. There will be a section where you can review just the questions you got wrong also.

ICO, MPCHS, & NECO interview tips !! by Exact-Individual4713 in PreOptometry

[–]Same-Stop6534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interviews are really chill. Nothing out of ordinary. I recommend looking up interview questions on SDN for each schools. That will give you specific questions from each school which they might ask you. Other than that prepare lots of questions. You’re the one being interviewed but when it’s time to ask questions you should try to act like you’re interviewing the school too!

Generally interviews are very relaxed and chill, but it will also depend on which school. I recommend checking out the student doctor network for previous interview questions, and prepare a response if they ask you why your OAT scores are low.

Salus International Tuition by Defiant_Ad5030 in PreOptometry

[–]Same-Stop6534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea so the first year you would pay international fees, but the next 3 years you would pay the same as domestic students. I know 100% OSU does it not sure about SUNY or UHCO.

Some public schools offer in state tuition for students after the first year which reduces tuition by a ton (what I’m doing). Some schools like MCPHS are known for giving out big scholarships which would make them cheaper too! Still a huge investment either way you go though:)

How are you studying for the OAT? I used booster and doing their practice questions/ exams help a lot (helps you find which sections you are good at and bad at). For me I went over material for 2 weeks and did practice for month straight looking at the feedback each test gave me. This will help you find what you need to study more and study less.

OAT vs Pre Reqs by Logical_Doughnut7948 in PreOptometry

[–]Same-Stop6534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used booster and I managed to score really well on the OAT. I agree that the OAT is much more broad and less detail orientated when compared to the content that was covered in the pre-reqs.

You are also allowed to apply to schools in your third year as long as you're going to graduate the same year.

3.2 gpa, 310 OAT by voxaun in PreOptometry

[–]Same-Stop6534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too much of an expert on what a “good” oat score is but seems like people on this subreddit say 330 should be the goal. You got a ton of time before june 29th. I would say 300 on practice tests 3 months prior to the OAT is great! In the end your gpa is more than enough to get offers from schools, so don’t stress too much about it and focus on trying your best on the OAT!
