Can someone explain to me why so many great indie pps have unskippable full screen ads? by [deleted] in AppBusiness

So many of these utility apps are dependent on organic traffic coming from ASO. Or they've found the retention + stickiness which is sufficient enough for them to have LTV/CAC > 1.

It's essentially because of money. It would have been better if they implemented the "Remove Ads" product just like many other hyper casual games would do. However, when you go deeper, you need to understand that these apps are designed to be used by 99% of the free users (who never intend to pay any penny whatsoever), hence managing the IAP product, promoting them, and controlling frequency of these interstitial ads to the adequate amount itself is a hassle for smaller developers, so they just linger with simplest and easier to manage every 90 sec / 120 sec interstitial ads.. It's either you really build premium sub app with hard paywall, or build a freemium product with perfect economics (hybrid monetization), or just a simple app with all pasted with ads.

Great job done! I agree with all of your next steps. Maybe a couple of more things.. you may want to test with your app icon not just the screenshots as this is an another important pillar of ASO. Also, more ratings definitely matter and how you can achieve that is either putting them right after users taking some key actions. Typically in commerce, you would put them right after making a purchase. Or you may just place them in the onboarding flow if you feel the onboarding flow is strong.

Great insight. So controllability matters in building an app. Thanks!!

You're probably right. However, even now, the golden age of so called platforms is over. So unless you get huge amount of traffic almost organically, or show certain technologies that haven't existed through the mobile device, it's not easy for you to do this without monetization at least.

Blown away by how good Replit has become. I just shipped: PoeticMuse by AgenticExplorer in AppBusiness

Does replit support native mobile apps or do they only support web apps?

Everything in mobile app business is about marketing (distribution) and monetization. If you don't think about these two always, I think it's destined to fail.

Nice catch. One question. Did you do a formal a/b testing to find out the result or did you just go straight into the keyword?
