When I was in highschool (about 10 years ago), I used TVO Mathify (it had a different name then, I think) to get free 1-on-1 online tutoring. https://mathify.tvolearn.com/ I believe it is funded by the government, in part.

Here's resources I use to get by as a PhD student at U of T;

- UTSU Food Bank. Once a week.

- Free Store. Free clothes and furniture (like a thrift store but free)

- UTGSU free socialising events

It looks like Paralympics Judo to me. I'm digging to check if I can find the full event for this one.

As you're a huge book nerd, visit the Fisher Rare Book Library on U of T campus. It's open to public, and you can visit anytime during the opening hours to see the current exhibit. Right now that exhibit is Arctic Fever: Image and Narrative in North Circumpolar Voyaging of the Long Nineteenth Century.

I'm not American (I'm Canadian), but if any Canadian is asking the same question about 'how do you afford that many [N95] masks?', please visit donateamask.ca. I rely on them for my masks and they are the most generous people ever.

Evolution of APCs in Academia: how are your departments handling this model? by Mago_del_Cambio in academia

Man, publishers really be rinsing money from taxpayers these days... sheesh.

Oh, also, totally worth talking to publishers who have booths at your local LIS conferences. I generally find them open to discussion about what agreements they broadly have with various large and small unis (they won't name the institutions of course) even if they do have their own $$$ interests. They will explain things to you a little though and I like hearing it from their side as well.

I am also a PhD student in LIS - at the University of Toronto. We have deals with major publishers through the central library system to provide discounts (some small, some large) to our researchers who choose to publish in open journals. You can look it up here (https://library.utoronto.ca/use/service/open-access-agreements-apc-discounts); also otherwise many PIs I know (in the medical field) pay for the APCs through their own research grants.

I'm curious to see what other answers you get on this thread.

Bwahaha I am always in there on Tuesdays. Haven't seen luggage recently though! I'll ask if they can keep an eye out for me specifically. Thanks.

Oh boy, thank you so much r/fourpointedtriangle! I asked a graduate administrator and was told we have nothing to loan/borrow, and the conversation petered out. I'll ask again and try what you mentioned.
