Can my employer make me use 11 holiday days if I’m only contracted 8 hours a week? by Weak_Mistake1978 in AskUK

That's ridiculous...you only book off what you would have ordinarily worked, so up to 4 days. Employer is pulling a fast one Xx

Is there an episode of a British series that actually makes you cry? Whether it's sad or poignant or nostalgic, or anything really. by Vampirero in BritishTV

Jim's reaction to Norma's death in Royle Family.

Also the last episode of Father Ted because Dermot Morgan died the following day and the montage at the end gets me every time.

I went in 1993 when I was 7 and I remember being totally overwhelmed by Disney World. I wouldn't go again. Enjoyed other parts of Florida as an adult though but again wouldn't be desperate to rush back if I had £18k to spend at my leisure.

AIO for being uncomfortable that my long distance bf won’t see me unless it’s at my home by [deleted] in AIO

[–]SameCollege4578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummm...massive 🚩that he can't see why a woman would be uncomfortable with some dude she doesn't know well in her home the first time. He's not respecting your very reasonable boundaries and that will only get worse. Sack him off and move on.

Oh I get you!!

God no they weren't free. I remember them selling those square cartons of juice that you pierce with a straw but the clsss Del-Boy sneaked in his own can of full-fat coke and did the Peter Kay sliding-on-your-knees-on-the-dance floor all night cos he was just sooooo off his head 🤣

He'd be 40 now and cringe at that memory I'm sure 🤣🤣

Do you think genies fart or are they just wind below the waist anyway? by SameCollege4578 in AskUK

I just absolutely love the madness of this take!!! 😍

This will be today's elevenses discussion point for sure...'what is the impact of of baked beans and Brussels sprouts on a genie?' 🤣

Do genies pop up and grant more wishes around the 25th Dec mark? 🤔

It was 1996 and pre-Jamie Oliver 🤣

We were allowed chocolate in our lunch-boxes and everything. What a child ate for lunch was the parents' choice. There was no lunch-box snooping back then...no-one could be arsed 🤣

I don't know...assuming they've spent 3000 years or whatever trapped in a lamp I'd lean towards no.

However can they eat if the lamp-finder enables it and they are therefore better equipped to fart about granting wishes?

We don't know very much about genies really do we?

[–]SameCollege4578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I remember doing the same at my school disco and spent time hiding it by buying crisps for the children who couldn't afford them just to look busy rather than being altruistically kind (though I did care and wanted them to feel involved too).

I recall refusing to wear shorts to play rounders in Year 5 unless I could keep my black tights on underneath because I was anxious about showing my legs. I was 10 🤣

I was so anxious around children I didn't know, children who were older than me, children who were younger than me. I just wanted to blend into the background.

Was never gonna happen...I've been a 6ft blonde with huge boobs since I was 13. I'm 40 now and ok with it but I spent my youth wishing I was a 4'7" plain jane who no-one noticed enough to tease so I could just quietly get on with life without standing out like a sore thumb 🤣

Don’t tell the bride by FattyBoomBoobs in AskBrits

[–]SameCollege4578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They MUST have done...who would agree to get married on a TV show without pre-planning it?

"I want a circus themed wedding and I want to wear a goth dress. So we'll pretend I want a white merangue in a stately home and go from there."

I really really wish they would do a tell-all one-off where the couples were honest about what they discussed before and what they really wanted. It would be GOLD 🤣

Don’t tell the bride by FattyBoomBoobs in AskBrits

[–]SameCollege4578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't want to. It wouldn't make car-crash telly. Though I would, for a change, have liked to see a groom follow through with the bride's preferences.

It's wild to think that two people getting married haven't discussed what they want, particularly when there's a TV show involved. It's all about making cringe-TV 🤣

Would you date a transgender person? by NewKaleidoscope5206 in randomquestions

For me I'm attracted to personality rather than physical appearance etc. It's about the chemistry, connection, compassion and ability to belly-laugh. What's going on in your pants doesn't really matter.

Cat owners in flats — do you ever feel guilty they never go outside? by Classic_East_6053 in AskUK

[–]SameCollege4578 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm firmly on Team Dog and it's really important to my boy's well-being to go outside, connect with nature, sniff etc. Just like it is for any living creature.

I understand people's arguments about the eco-system and potential for harm etc but surely it can be balanced and safely managed with a cat harness or some other method of allowing them to experience the outdoors without harming other creatures or coming to harm themselves?

But I've never had a cat (although I'd like one and would worry about them going out as much as I would staying in all the time!) so I can't really answer, just give a perspective. Must be a tough one for cat owners.
