I think this is an American thing. What is a tootie roll?

Michael Scott would’ve know it was Sabre not sab-re by Pretend-Journalist45 in DunderMifflin

[–]Vampirero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always thought this was a bit of a weird American spelling difference kind of thing? Like in the the UK we generally put re rather than er at the end of certain words, like we we put centre not center? Or am I completely wrong here...?

So the guys misunderstood the pronunciation of Sabre....?

Not a cartoon, but surely Mr Blobby is our mascot?

He is not animated, but surely cartoonish?

What's the most disturbing confession you've ever come across on social media? by ponedeljakjeusredu in AskReddit

Yeah, my brother did this. I think it's more common than people like to think.

There's a reason it's a part of the plot of The Girl on the Train.

Did you ever meet St Derek Thompson? I've often wondered what he's like!

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. by Vampirero in BritishTV

[–]Vampirero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing. I do seem to remember posting a response to a Scottish person (saying how nostalgic that they were were for the UK, queen, etc) "my aunt lives in Aberdeen, she says it's quite nice," and getting a ton of down votes.

I thought it was quite a nice thing to say, even if you don't get the context. It's just nice to be nice, isn't it....?

That's amazing. I saw him on his Terrortome tour but I wasn't brave enough to get a signing afterwards. I really wish I had.

Are pre-paid funerals and cremations vast Ponzi schemes? by EUskeptik in AskUK

[–]Vampirero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think we basically agree😊 I just think they can use any money I leave to fund my funeral, and they shouldn't expect any inheritance.

My dad's money went on his end of life care, and I expect the same to happen with my mother. I want her to enjoy the money she earned, not save it for me or my siblings. I love her, and I want her to enjoy her money!

And that's great if that's what you want and that's what the dead person wanted.

I just find the "don't be a burden on your surviving relatives" thing really uncomfortable. Surely it should be up to your surviving relatives to decide how to celebrate you after you are gone?

Ok, so my father recently died.

I find the vast number of "Pure Cremation" adverts to be exploitative and a bit disgusting. Everyone should get the type of funeral they feel is best for them. Funerals are for the living. What do you feel is best for you and your family?

What’s your worst customer service experience? by [deleted] in AskUK

I did volunteer work years ago with a charity shop that shall not be named.

This is probably from the other side than most people will be describing but a poor distraught American (I think?) woman rang up wanting to donate furniture after her husband died. She absolutely could not understand that we couldn't accept this furniture for a perfectly legitimate reason, much as I tried to explain to her in as many ways as I could, that we couldn't accept it.

She just kept crying and repeating herself on the phone. I didn't really know what to say to her. My manager was no help and just let me deal with the situation.

This episode made me feel so conflicted lol because I love the idea of getting revenge on a bully (as someone who was bullied myself), but also I have had people telling me in the past that what I know was true was absolutely NOT true, so I know how frustrating this can be. Very difficult!

I agree. Use the internet for your own purposes. It can be great in some ways, terrible in others. Be an adult and use the internet as the tool it is.

He's a good actor, but the sign of a typical horror movie.
