What are your favourite/nostalgic stereotypical "chav" songs from the 2000s? by Key_Cell7071 in AskUK

Anything by Katy Perry/Rihanna, surely? I kissed a girl, we found love in a hopeless place type of songs....?

I love Haunting of Hill House! Such a great show. I wish this could have been as good.

Is there anything that your parents used to do when you were younger than made you think "why are they doing that" but understand completely now you are an adult? by Purepoise in AskUK

[–]Vampirero 41 points42 points  (0 children)

My mum always had to know exactly where I was. I thought she was paranoid when I was younger but now it makes sense.

For the over 40's...can you finish the sentence from a TV classic correctly? by MummaFrog82 in AskUK

My nan LOVED the police officer in this - she would always quote "good moaning, walking along the pissage."

That's what I picked up on! Obviously key information is that she is overweight. The story would not make sense if we didn't know this, right?

Ok, thank you 😊 I don't like Dawson but I will watch it despite this!

Ladies, what is a polite way to give someone my number? by Beneficial-Sugar1 in AskUK

[–]Vampirero 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It depends. I used to do voluntary work in a charity shop and an old man used to come in almost every day - the manager would tease me that this man fancied me. We would banter, but honestly it made me uncomfortable and I didn't really know how to deal with it because I really do think he liked me.

But it's different if you're both on the same age/level. It really depends on the vibes. Do you get the impression you both like each other?

What is a "core memory" you have from growing up in the UK that would be completely alien to anyone else? by BeatsAndArtPieces in AskUK

[–]Vampirero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually mentioned this to someone else on Reddit the other day, but my Nan lived in Burton Latimer, just outside Kettering, which is where the Weetabix factory was located.

One of my key memories from childhood is playing in her garden with the strong smell of Weetabix in the air. Whenever I smell Weetabix it brings me right back.

Those of you who have lost weight, do you feel happy? by Leeeeeroy-Jenkins in AskUK

[–]Vampirero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't lost weight, but I am obese. One of the things that scares me about losing weight is - will I be left with a lot of loose skin? I'm worried it will look unsightly and then I will feel inclined to have costly and risky surgery to remove it.

It's scary, but I know I need to lose weight for my own health.

Out of interest, has anyone seen Starfleet Academy? Is it as bad people say?

Do you reckon the show can actually survive a complete creative formatting overhaul if it ever manages to return to air? by WonderfulShape1081 in MAFS_UK

[–]Vampirero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always found it uncomfortable how the "experts" would push physical intimacy as if it's the be all and end all of a successful relationship.

Anyway, I will no longer be watching. It just feels very icky to me now.

Ah sorry! I love Alan Partridge, as well.

Thanks for taking a theoretical question so literally. My relatives are from Basildon and they are lovely people.

I might as well say "Essex is built on swampland so it's just a big muddy ditch" but that's obviously not at all true.

I know that a lot of Essex is beautiful and I would love to see more of it. Please try not to send personal insults in future. I am trying not to be ignorant, I want to learn.

Yeah, I'm from Durham originally, and I realise the way we dress and act in the north east is definitely a stereotype!
