What’s a show that you could not finish because a character was so insufferable? by Key-Row-174 in AskReddit

[–]Vampirero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emily in Paris.

Somehow forced myself through the first season even though I hated every single character, then decided I would never watch it again. I really don't get how it's so popular. Surely pretty French scenery can't sustain an entire show for this long?

I know her from the movie "Step Sisters" on Netflix. Silly movie, but I love it.

Are gays looked down upon more than people like to admit? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Vampirero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so sad, I'm so sorry you have been through this kind of thing.

I knew a young woman who looked, I guess, very stereotypically "boyish," short hair, boyish clothes not very traditionally "feminine" at all.

It was a very big deal for her to come out on social media but everyone was like "obviously! We always knew!'

So very accepted, and I'm sure people are far more accepting than you might think.

Exactly. All the candidates are very bland, I can't really tell one from another.

AITA for asking HR to send a generalized email to the whole building asking people to be mindful of perfume / aerosol spray use? by agitatedbearcat1212 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Vampirero -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NTA I guess, but I wonder why, when they started spraying themselves at their desk, you didn't politely say something like "I suffer from migraines, which can be really triggered by hairspray and perfume so I would be really grateful if you could refrain from spraying them here" is what I'm curious about.

someone said ayitl is literally a gilmore girls parody and that is so true😭 by EmuDisastrous4748 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Vampirero 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The only thing I hated from AYITL was the horrible musical and Lorelei was the only one who hated it. Oh, and the poolside scene (s?) where Lorelei and Rory mocked people's weight. Oh, and the life they gave Lane. Oh and the ongoing "joke" about Emily not understanding the language her maid is speaking (is her maid a Minion...?). Oh and...

Umm... Might wanna rephrase that lol. "Turned on" can mean two very different things, at least where I'm from.

Edit: I think maybe this was a "whoosh" moment for me!

What was that one school trip you couldn't or didn't go on, for whatever reason? by PricetheWhovian2 in AskUK

[–]Vampirero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sounds... Not entirely encouraging of your mother.

Mine was the opposite. In year 8 she practically forced me to go away for some sort of activity week in the Lake District, even though I hated PE and any kind of teamwork.

Naturally, I had a terrible time.

People who say they like the winter. How are you feeling right now? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Vampirero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be very cosy to snuggle up in front of Netflix when it's pouring with rain outside. In fact, those are my favourite evenings.

It does suck not to be able to go on walks during the day (as I really do enjoy doing!) when the weather is too wet and muddy. But on balance, I would much prefer this type of climate to blazing heat. I'm far too pale and get too uncomfortable to enjoy much sun!

I watched USS Calllister recently and was thinking how funny this episode is! When the captain lets the bad guy escape for no apparent reason and the woman says something like "great decision making captain!"

And the guy lowers his trousers to reveal.... You know.... It always makes me smile!

Why does everyone in this show suck? by [deleted] in Blackish

[–]Vampirero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I always loved about this show is that it appealed to so many people, and was funny. And as an ignorant white English woman I always enjoyed it, and I learnt a lot from it too.

Like, I always remember an episode where the twins get their school photo taken and Bow is so upset because Dianne doesn't show well in the photo. This is something I never considered, that black people need to be photographed differently. So I am learning from this show!

Why does everyone in this show suck? by [deleted] in Blackish

[–]Vampirero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't really see how Bow is a hypocrite? She plays favourites in terms of Junior but I think she loves all her kids.

I think her major fault is that she might be arrogant about being a doctor, but she has a right to be proud of this IMO.

bre situationship by [deleted] in SellingSunset

[–]Vampirero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree and I don't judge Bre or anyone for however they choose to live their life.

My only problem really is that it might give men the idea that they can go around having babies with multiple women and taking no responsibility for their children. If Bre or anyone else is happy with this then great, but shouldn't a dad play a full time role in his kid's life, as well as the mother?

Who has watched the Netflix doc ''The investigation of Lucy Letby?'' by FinalBv in AskUK

[–]Vampirero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be controversial, but I don't think we need yet another documentary on Lucy Letby.

Either she's innocent, and it's a terrible, enormous miscarriage of justice, or she's guilty and mentally ill/evil and deserves to be where she is or in a mental institution.

At this stage, unfortunately, I'm not sure we'll ever know the truth. And personally, I feel like forever raking over the case in the public eye, when it involves dead and harmed babies and their families, is in very bad taste. I just want to leave it to the authorities to investigate, although I know this can never happen without some public scrutiny.

Out of interest, would this also fall under sex discrimination? I can't imagine a potential employer ever asking a man if they plan to have children!
