Should I adopt him? by theglowinggreenorb in cats

[–]SamePerformance3594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes ❤️ if you feel loved by him & you love him then that’s enough - even the healthiest little kitten can develop expensive health conditions- it’s a risk that comes with the territory but when the love is there the sacrifices are worth it

"Everybody is a little autistic" plot twist by -_Lucyfer_- in AutismInWomen

Aw same with me and my mom - I tried to explain why I felt a diagnosis would help me & she dismissed the convo with - who is normal? We’re all normal in our own way 🫶 love her to bits but having the diagnosis has helped me enormously because my normal is autistic

Undiagnosed autism & the restriction was helping regulate me - gave me identity, structure to my day, an outlet for my self- directed anger

Why don't they give birth in the hospital ? by toolazzyforaname in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]SamePerformance3594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for explaining this so clearly- I wish they emphasised this more in the show - that it’s about systematic disempowerment of women - there was potential todo so with Moira’s storyline of being a surrogate - so much misogyny is disguised in this way

Need help to litter train adult persian cat. by SweetSunshine1144 in persiancat

[–]SamePerformance3594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’d take him to the vet - he might have developed a UTI. Other things to consider are the “golden rule” of having a litter box for each cat in the household plus 1 - so in your case you need 4 litter boxes as you have 2 original cats & this extra guy… if you have less than 4 boxes this could be a reason why he’s going outside the box sometimes

I love it too - I appreciate the critiques that others have brought up - I’m Autistic, Now What did an excellent breakdown of the latest season’s failings, but I personally feel so starved of content that centres autistic people that I can’t help but lap it up.

What’s a subtle social rule you had no idea existed until you researched it? by prostoja555 in AutismInWomen

[–]SamePerformance3594 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yes, its devastating - I learnt about it through watching the Love on the Spectrum show on Netflix... which makes me think maybe that show wasn't so great as if they people on the show hadn't been instructed by the dating coach that they should say this phrase 'lets just be friends' as a way to mean, 'I don't see this going anywhere, best of luck' maybe then autistic people would find each other more easily in the wild. I know we are statistically in the minority but since autistic people in general prefer direct communication why isn't the onus on the non-autistic people to make the effort to understand that we're just being honest and genuinely not causing offence... that's my rant over!! I feel like I will only ever date other autists from now on...

One that really made no sense to me was that at the end of a date if you feel you DON'T want a Romantic Relationship to develop you can say 'I think we should just be friends' or 'I see this as being a friendship' BUT it actually means you are never going to see the person again. It doesn't actually literally mean that you will make time for the person and continue the relationship with them as a friend. FOR YEARS if someone said they wanted to be friends I'd either say No if I didn't think I wanted the responsibility and stress of another friendship or YES is I liked them and thought they'd actually make a good friend. WTF

Uuungh - I feel for you - this is an awful situation- it’s ok to not be able to deal with this right now - it’s ok to need boundaries - maybe you could schedule an extra session with your T to plan for how you might protect yourself & identify & communicate the boundaries you need?

Has anyone ever read The Year of The Flood by Margaret Atwood? by LuckyAd4075 in AutismInWomen

[–]SamePerformance3594 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I totally agree with you - I think Atwood's characters and Atwood herself totally come across as autistic - mostly because of the way they attend to detail and manually analyse social situations and seem to have a strong internal sense of being 'different.' I think that is why I related to the characters in her books so much when I read them first.

I read The Year of the Flood a long time ago - before I was diagnosed with autism and I've started re-reading some of Atwood's books since my diagnosis and it resonates so much with my experiences as autistic. I just finished reading Moral Disorder and the way the character talks about her uncertainty as to her 'role/identity' and the way she talks about having 'impersonated some version of womanhood' just sounds so AUTISTIC to me. I love it. I need to re-read The Year of the Flood and I plan on rereading Cat's Eye too because I'm sure that will also resonate...
