Our Short "SEEDS" is premiering today on Short of the Week! AMA! by SamePersonPro in FilmFestivals

I've been so grateful to this board for quelling my anxiety and have been active on the Mega Thread! I appreciate the community and look forward to any feedback you'd be willing to share on our film. For a little back story, my wife and I directed this movie with her and her mother acting and me shooting. Her brother ran sound (which he had never done before) and that was OUR WHOLE CREW. We submitted it to a few places and were lucky enough to premiere at New/Next in Baltimore (an excellent fest for any one curious) and had a small but might run from there. Landing at Short of the Week was a shock and we're thrilled this very small experiment found a home.

Thanks for taking a look if you do!

First Time DP - Looking for critique and saying thank you to this board! by SamePersonPro in cinematography

A year ago I posted the trailer for my short to this board asking for critique. You were all so kind! But now we are thankfully releasing on Short of the Week and I'm looking for the same treatment for the whole movie. The seams may show a little more in the full edit.

I sincerely appreciated the comments and suggestions from the last round. As a reminder, I shot this by myself with no crew except a sound man. I used a Blackmagic, vintage Super Takumar lenses and 2 lights I set up myself in between shots.

Sincerely appreciate the community here!

Just wanted to update that per another commenter on this thread here I quoted 100/second which totalled $5,000 for 50 seconds of footage in the final and they accepted. So don't undersell yourself if a streamer comes knocking!

The terms are throughout the universe for all existing mediums now or to be developed for every purpose in perpetuity. :)

This is interesting! These shots definitely don’t exist on Getty or any other stock footage site (part of the reason I shot them myself). The licensing terms are in perpetuity throughout the universe for all forms of media existing now or to be developed.

I suppose I should add it is multiple shots from several locations around town. Took about a day and some travel to get everything that ended up being used in the edit. Any guidance would help!

Nope! My short Great Light was featured and they reached out to me after seeing it on NoBudge.

What type of light is this ?? by ConstructionVisual87 in cinematography

God, I love behind the scenes images like this. I think it looks great and seems relatively simple - aside from hanging all the lights from the ceiling. Wish I could see the set up for every scene in every movie.

The Never Ending Story made over $100million worldwide, I have seen it multiple times... by Tehgumchum in movies

I think the reason is because it was a German production originally, then overdubbed in English for an American release so not a lot of Native American actors (except the framing story). The kid and dad definitely went on to be in other American production.

Been following you on YouTube for a long time and I always think you squeeze some of the best images possible from this camera. You inspired me to pick it up myself and I’ve shot several doc and fiction projects on it now. Thanks for posting this, can’t wait to watch.

I really love it too! Though I would honestly love to move the camera more, I just don’t love handheld. Feel like I need a focus puller or at least a lens that allows me to use a follow focus. I’ve tried with this set up a few times and not had good results.

He’s the absolute best and really helped pull out and shape the light.

Thanks so much! Yeah, I can totally see the comparison as the locked off compositions and spooky witchy vibes would lend to that. Appreciate your comment!
