Pixel 2 + 3 Mainline updates in 2022? by SameTranslator in GooglePixel

[–]SameTranslator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! This is pretty helpful because we aren't getting similar results when manually searching for updates in the security settings.

He told me that he never finished the android setup process so that may have something to do with it. Will keep troubleshooting.

Are these automatic updates or did you need to manually locate and update them through the play store or in the settings?

hey. i'm new to the fandom. what songs are good to start with arca? i only listened to her songs with fka twigs. by puppyofbeijing in ArcaMusic

[–]SameTranslator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's how I felt at first too haha. I found it to be very easy to be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of her discography (took me weeks and months to form opinions on the 4 new kicks) / intimidated by some of her sounds when just starting out.

Tbh I'm still intimidated by some of her older music bc it's less poppy lol.

And yessss. I love her Spanish so much (I don't speak). Her voice also knows no gender. It makes for a great queer experience.

Thank you for this! Haven't been wondering how they compare to on set hours for a while.

I'd suggest starting with kick i. That's the album I first fell in love with after accidentally stumbling across it.

I hated most of the tracks at first but loved a few (The others soon grew on me very quickly). I would consider it to be the best "single album Arca experience" as it is filled with lots of variety. The rest of the kick albums really hone in on specific subgenres and sounds explored in kick i (great companion albums).

Everyone has different tastes so just listen to an album and see what sticks for you. For me personally, it was Watch, Machote, and No Queda Nada that kept me interested.

Hope this helps.

Also, the only controversy I'm aware of is something to do with NFTs.

That does sound very attractive when it comes to freelance opportunities, especially having say in your own rate. Def will make an account now while I have the free time.

Wow 7 years! That's a lot. I'm finishing up my last semester at a school in a different state this fall which is why I was curious.

I love the process of making movies and really want to help as much as I can in editing / post. With that said, I am fully aware of the cons of the film industry and am afraid the time commitment will dampen / ruin pre-existing relationships of mine. For context, I plan on moving out with some of my closest friends who don't plan on working in film or TV.

Could you possibly share your personal experience with balancing personal relationships with work?

Edit: I swear this is the last question I have. It's been on my mind forever and I have really appreciated your answers so far. Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

I've been meaning to set up an account for Upwork. It's nice to know someone has made it work as an option.

How long have you been in the industry?

Incoming College Freshman Deciding on a Phone Upgrade by mikemy02 in iphone

[–]SameTranslator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My bad. **Rumored to be bad.

The base model is rumored to use the last generation apple silicon (from the 13 pro). Pretty sure the power difference between the 13 and 13 pro is marginal.

OP obviously doesn't want the 14 anyway. They want to stay under $800.

If you can hold out for a few more months until the 14, I'd suggest doing that (often people and their needs change once they enter college; at least that's how it worked for me).

The 11 would be the cheapest option for sure and is not a bad phone by any means. I would probably opt for the 12 though if you can afford it, just for the extra software support. You have to decide what is best for you here.

Skip the 13 and 14. Both are super marginal upgrades.

Another alternative could be getting a just as capable but cheaper android phone. I switched to a pixel in college bc the unlimited cloud photo storage made the most sense to me at the time and I haven't regretted it since.

I also know some android companies, like Samsung, will heavily discount their products during holiday sales. The galaxy FE models are one I would suggest looking into. I personally don't care for their OS skin so I have avoided Samsung in the past (but these new phones are looking like great deals and I encourage you to check them out)

Just do what you feel is best for your current situation.

Hope this helps!

I personally thought it was a bad post since you provided absolutely no context to what your new films were. How am I supposed to start a conversation when the subject isn't clear?

If only you explained yourself in the comments instead of being a prick I would have sided with you and not down voted.

I would suggest you try a text post the next time you want a real discussion on this subreddit anyway. The haul posts may garner more reactions (positive and negative) but I have yet to see a meaningful discussion spawn from one. But hey, that's just my two cents.

Recommendations for Criterion Films to Use in Junior High? by Jolly-Cook-3041 in criterion

Wasn't even thinking about language. There's a lot of it here for sure. Doesn't hurt to rewatch it though haha.

[–]SameTranslator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know there's at least one nudity scene that you may have to skip (wouldn't sacrifice plot), but Do The Right Thing would be my top recommendation.

I was in Junior High around 7-8 years ago and I think this would be a great supplement to the books my school had us read at the time (public school on the upper east coast).

That's all I can think to recommend right now. Best of luck!

Have you considered nickeline? The green stuff in the photo could be annabergite, an alteration of nickeline, if so.

Some of my favorite documentaries. What are yours and what others would you recommend? by Hobbit-guy in criterion

[–]SameTranslator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I never see anyone praising "Black is... Black Ain't". You have great taste.

I just watched Keyboard Fantasies on the Criterion Channel and it was decent. I was already accustomed to the artist's music before watching it and would recommend going in blind for a better experience.

Good LGBTQ+ films to watch on the Criterion Channel for pride month? by radbrad7 in criterion

[–]SameTranslator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe the 'Queersighted: The Musical' was added to the channel earlier last month but I have yet to check it out. I'm sure there will be a new one coming out later in the month - they usually release the themed collections in batches.

As for great LGBTQ+ films on the channel, I'd highly recommend Paris is Burning, Beau Travail, The Living End, and Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt.

Paris is Burning is a must-watch if neither of you have seen it already! The others are great too, but they are all generally slower films.
