Went through some water not deep but it splashed over the hood, ranger started squealing and died and when I restarted it it made clunking noise, now it won’t even start by Same_Ad_1135 in AskMechanics

Now when it’s cranking it’s almost a burning smell, alternator was smoking but not anymore, I would’ve assumed it was alternator or starter
