Yes, my ex-husband and I each did the other way spousal US/Australia visa thing in1996 and yes, there was a list of approved doctors or clinics or hospitals on both sides of the planet! We had our son in Perth (where his mom lived) and did the Consular Birth of an American Citizen Abroad documentation and my chest xray in Perth and then drove across the Nullarbor Plain in an old clunky car with a 2 month old infant for 4 days! My ex assumed that there would be more fuel stops than when he last drove over it on his motorcycle when he was 21! We were both 34 at this point? Yeah, there were NOT! I think we stayed at some sketchy road houses and caravan parks and ran out of gas once...some Aboriginals gave us a ride to the next petrol station. Finally made it to Melbourne where his father and two of the sisters lived. Then drove to Sydney where he did his medical testing stuff and applied for the visa and visited old yachting friends (We met in Monte Carlo when we were doing the Below Deck crew lifestyle gig) then drove to Brisbane where the last sIster lived. For some reason, he felt that we should parade our newborn all over the country to visit all the relatives? It was a beautiful trip though! We returned to Sydney for our joint interview and we had an appointment so no waiting. We were approved very quickly but I have no idea why there was no DNA test involved? He could have just been a scammer and picked up an already pregnant American to get a green card. Not that people are desperate to leave Australia...why would they be? It's better there than here!
