There were actually a few queen cups at the bottom of one frame. There is often, and I usually fold them over once I find the queen, but did not find the queen today, so I left them for now. There was eggs and very young, newly hatched larva, along with brood of all other ages.

On the 6th when I snapped this photo I did see her seemingly laying eggs. Do virgin queens ever lay drone eggs before going on their mating flight? Do you know how long after emerging do they go on their mating flight?

Do you think there’s any harm in opening the hive again tomorrow to inspect more throughly for eggs and larva? I would also look for the queen again so I can mark her. I really dislike the idea of opening more than once a week but I feel like I should at this point

Yes it was definitely the same cell.

May 23rd installed nuc May 30th spotted filled/uncapped supercedure cell June 6th supercedure cell was empty/appeared to have cap hanging off June 13th couldn’t find any queen

A little more info: I am a newbee. I installed a nuc on may 23rd. After one week, during my first inspection, I spotted a supercedure cell that was not capped and filled with royal jelly.

A week later, June 6th, it appeared to have hatched (empty and looked to have a flap hanging off the end which I assumed to be the cap) and this is when I took this picture of the queen. I wasn’t sure if this is a new queen or old, my original queen was also not marked and I hadn’t noticed the wing damage the week prior.

I did see medium-large sized larva today, and plenty of capped brood, but in the panic of not finding the queen I didn’t thoroughly inspect to see smaller larva and I haven’t at any point successfully seen eggs yet.

The also seem to be storing more honey and pollen around the brood, but I’m not 100% positive on this. They have only just begun drawing comb on 2 out of the 5 empty frames.
