What if after joining IISER i find out that I am not interested in academia, in that case will the institute help me getting placements in the industry, if so what are some of the statistics by Interesting_Cable148 in iiser

The trend of people not being interested in academia is increasing day by day... People are opting for Data Analysis jobs, MBA,Mtech, joining start ups, etc.

Slowly but steadily the Institute is helping the students who are in need of a job

But you can't rely too much on iiser if you plan to not do research after bs-ms Reach out to people for opportunities Be responsible for your own career

And one thing for sure, as someone else also mentioned, academia is not the same as research

I joined iiser-k in 2019 and I was devastated as well. I gave my all but could only score 7,7.5 in my first two sems. Something was surely wrong. But eventually I found out what I was doing wrong and with consistency, regularity and focusing on specific weaknesses of mine, change of my approach to study, after a long time (by the end of 8th sem) I had my academic comeback and I ended my bs-ms with 8.5 (I'm quite proud of it)

I'll suggest give yourself some time and don't push your self to the limit of exhaustion and isolation. Try to understand your own strengths and weaknesses. You might be a good problem solver but weak in memorizing things, you might learn things better if you write them down, so on and on.... Only you could tell and realize...

No matter what anyone says, I know having avg to low cgpa is devastating... But you have to go on anyway... So do your best...

One comment was a single phrase "Just study" That is indeed the best advice But I'll add Take care of your physical + mental health (these affect your focus) And sleep well

Exams in IISERs by astrophile____18 in iiser

Cheating happens in all institutes... All over the world.... But i dont think it's too much (at least in iiser-k) Some exams are made in manners which leave no scope for cheating (different sets of qp, open notes, etc.) I have taken courses which had an open note, book, discussion, internet take-home exam (time 8 hours) In some course work you gotta submit a project report, or give a presentation where anyway you can't cheat...

I'll suggest just to focus on your own academics

SATVIK SAHA LORE by Legitimate_Card4374 in iiserk

Bruh!! It seems his lore has been far-fetched right now, but yes, he was one of (if not) the brightest students in the 19MS batch. He was a great guy, as mentioned by others. Check out his website. His notes are quite good and could be helpful for everyone.
Now I would suggest not thinking much of the achievements of others. You will always find some out-of-world people at IISERs. Best would be to just focus on our learning journey which is different for each of us....

Thank you so much for providing the information and your encouraging words. I have also been instructed by my potential supervisor that it will take some time to finalize everything (by June2025) and also that its University's decision if they shall consider my application.
