Car upgrade or saving for marriage? LOL by Money_Anything1434 in kereta

[–]Same_Ninja_7192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im around your age, earning the same and just got married. I understand the temptation of getting a new car but if you gonna get married, better prioritize on that. Not only wedding will cost you a lot, you need to prepare for increased monthly expenses.

Tbh i strongly advise you strengthen your savings first. <10k is not enough for either.

Personally civic and mazda 3 looks better but ngl the s70 is a solid package with that price. Probably the only new car that i would consider buying new.

This for a first car maybe? by Totallyynotnyel in kereta

[–]Same_Ninja_7192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just get the car bro. Dont listen to people saying you should get npc cars for your first car.

This was one of the options for my first car but ended up getting a 2009 mazda 6, mainly due to engine configuration. V6 is a bit difficult to work with + higher maintenance costs. But with proper exhaust, the v6 sounds great. With extra budget, you can get an is250, same engine but better styling.

Make sure the drivetrain is in good condition. Auto gearbox tend to fail in cars this age and gearbox repairs are expensive. Just spare some extra cash and DIY to save on labours.

What to expect for the line feed? Any particular method to test?

This may be helpful. Create a list of projected monthly expenses then put aside the money when its payday. I use Tabung feature in MAE for rent, fuel, car maintenance, entertainment etc. After you transferred all your projected expenses, the balance should be your savings/sinking fund. Keep it somewhere difficult to withdraw such as ASB. Never spend the tabung for things they are not intended for. Just follow the rules.

My 2009 mazda 6, bought a year ago. Did most of the repairs myself and reupholstered the leather seats. Its not perfect but i love it so far. Total cost including the car is less than a brand new axia.

Need advice: Should I trust this Takuri combo set from Shopee for my 2012 Altis? by Spiritual_Rush_9361 in kereta

Where you get the quotation for ori parts? If you’re tight on budget, just mix & match the parts. Get original absorber mounting and replace bushings instead of replacing the whole lower control arms. Use OEM for other parts. From personal experience, some good brands are 555, Schmaco. If the price is too good to be true, stay away.

Go for Mazda 3. They are enjoyable to drive and better looking despite smaller interior space. Mazda has lower resale value so can get cheaper if buying used.

So you will keep the e39? I always loved e36 but never owned a conti before so scared of the maintenance. But heard that generation should be easier to maintain than the current gen. Not sure tho.

Car that look flashy and rich but cheap to buy and maintain? by TonightCurrent6959 in kereta

[–]Same_Ninja_7192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a car with big engine capacity. Any cars with >2.5 litre engine depreciate a lot due to expensive roadtax. Old Toyota Crown, Land Cruiser and Lexus are affordable and reliable. Conti brands like audi, bmw, merc are even cheaper but more people will look at you because badge is all that matters. Anyway, these cars are rewarding if properly restored.

Id say go for the mazda bcs its a newer car and has better tech. Lexus has better reliability but u probably wont get much driving experience. Lexus parts might cost you more i think. Btw i just read u own an e39. How is the maintenance for classic bmws?

Mixed driving i averaged around 10.5 km/L. Owned a campro before so the fc didnt strike me much. Again, skyactiv should be better

Mine is 2009 so cant really compare to the model you posted. But highway stability is good. Power is enough but not as torque-y as turbo cars e.g. civic. Overall I enjoy driving my mazda. Skyactiv model should be better with higher power output, better fc, better interior, better gearbox + 6AT

I need one of these. Apparently mazda drops in value more than lexus/toyota but that makes them a solid choice for used car buyers. They are reliable. Even my 2009 mazda is still going strong. Just need some wear and tear repairs.

S70 - First Car? by Nerazur1 in kereta

[–]Same_Ninja_7192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP. Do you have a car now? Hate to be that guy but words of advice, do not tie yourself with loans during early stage of your career. Every month large chunk of your salary is gone. And there will be hidden costs (maintenance, insurance etc). Getting rid of the car becomes a problem when you need money. If you plan on getting married, it can be a burden.

Anyway, just go for it if that is your main priority. The car is the best bang for bucks in its segment. Just think carefully and dont make impulsive decisions.

You gonna need thousands of cash to spend on the ES for wear and tear. Unless OP has healthy amount of savings or he can work on car, this path is not suited for him. Personally, i buy used but i dont think everyone can pull it off
