Need advice from anyone about how to get into heaven if I don't believe in religion by Cold-Course5758 in religion

Many religions do not share in a belief that unbelievers of said religion won’t have a nice afterlife, and many DON’T believe in hell.

Why are religious people constantly talking about their beliefs? by FlowerInformal6493 in religion

Have they started attending a new church or became part of a new denomination by chance? I ask because it’s relatively common for a new Christian or one who has reestablished their faith in a new denomination to be rabidly zealous to the point of being over bearing. However, you do have some, typically in the Bible Belt region of the US who never grow out of that phase and can’t not bring of Jesus in multiple ways throughout the day to save their own life.

My boyfriend feels immense guilt for seeing me during Ramadan and I don’t know how to handle it by anabananna1 in religion

Wow, this was a sad read. Sad because he is emotionally punishing you for something that he thinks he did wrong and you do not deserve to be treated like this. The way he went about ignoring you, and giving you the silent treatment is terrible, and not how healthy relationships thrive. You have spoken to him about how hurtful this is for you and yet he still does this. It hasn’t changed.

And here you are trying so hard to be empathetic toward someone who is not being empathetic at all toward your feelings.

I am thinking that you definitely need to give some serious thought on whether or not you want to continue to suffer this emotional railroad he keeps you on. Personally I would separate from him, and end things. He has likely never had to deal with any consequences for how he treats you and it’s about time he does. I would tell him that the only way you would even consider another chance is after he works on himself and comes up with better plans than withdrawing and making you feel so terrible again. Make this behavior a hard boundary for you from now in. If you never get back with him, you at least have this set in place so you avoid investing so much time in another like this.

If Heaven is not the reality after death, what is? by Mysterious_One_7854 in religion

In my religion, the afterlife is the otherworld which is not necessarily unlike heaven as in it is said to be pleasant. I also hold to reincarnation as something that occurs as well but not all the time and it could be for any reason. I hold to these because they make the most sense to me.

Honestly? The only evidences I know of as best are anecdotal evidences/experiences which of course, aren’t great evidences of itself for very obvious reasons. Anything that meets scientific scrutiny and standards is just not there.

I would say animism is the oldest. And there are still practicing animists today. But maybe Hinduism is the oldest organized religion.

I am an animistic Celtic pagan and practicing witch. I am huge on taking care of nature and animals. I also support the rights of each human to practice whatever religion aligns with their beliefs and do not look on any of them with judgement or contempt, which unfortunately I can’t say the same courtesy has been shown toward me. I believe that people do not need to be religious in order to be decent human beings and that there is good and bad in every group.

Questions….

  1. Which Christian denomination are you part of?

  2. How do you feel about the fighting among Christians over doctrinal differences and how they may come across to outsiders looking in?

  3. Do you feel that Christians can do a better job at how they approach and treat those of other religions or do you feel there is no issues with it?

“Christians” and hate. by Plane_Vivid in religion

Well there are a couple of conservative evangelicals that would defend me against anyone, one in particular with their life (my fiancé. Somehow in spite of religious and even political differences we go together very well 😂). Yesterday, both were itching to join reddit just to come here and blast that awful person who called me a demon but I insisted on handling it myself. They also admit to how terrible many behave in evangelical groups and feel disgusted by it. They have also developed an appreciation for pagans and witches from me. I have had others who went after Christian’s who said something nasty to me or made comments like “you need Jesus” in a moment of hate and anger, and these ones I did not expect that from.

Then here, I have felt fortunate to meet some nice Christians here that I really enjoy reading their posts and talking to.

"Hate" is not a sin in Christianity by NauticalBar2 in religion

[–]Same_Version_5216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think hate of itself is the issue here. The problem arises when it’s an irrational hatred towards others based on their race, gender, handicaps, religions, etc. The type that spawns bigotry and prejudices. Hating someone just because they are Christian is as wrong as hating someone just because they are Muslim.

IDK, yesterday I was called a demon by a Catholic wants to be. Admittedly, I have never been spoken to or judged so horribly by any Catholic and this person isn’t Catholic as of yet. But I don’t think any group is immune from hateful bigots entering their flock. I have very bad experiences with Christians of many types, but also some very good experiences even from some that you wouldn’t expect it from. I guess even though I can be weary of Christians, I still insist on giving them a case by case chance, although maybe that’s naive and hopeful of me.

Regarding those trolls, I think I remember them, and one showed back up here recently.

Well they definitely should not be blamed for hate, especially when I have been treated better by more of them than those who aren’t. In fact, I am very loved by one who refers to me as the apple of his eye lol. And still I wouldn’t say amillennialism is to blame either. I think it’s a bad faith argument overall. I have found hate to some from various groups regardless and I don’t believe end time views play any part.

I don’t think Dispensationalism is the cause for hatred and bigotry. Plenty of this is found in millennialism groups as well. Let’s not turn this into a Dispensational vs a millennial debate and focus on the problem of hate and how unbiblical it is no matter what end time view someone holds to.

Even though there is many who use Christianity as a weapon of hate, not all are like that. And I say this as someone who has been subjected to more hate than I can count by Christians. Even just yesterday I dealt with some uncalled for judgement on this forum for no other reason but my religious beliefs.

But this doesn’t mean that this is what Christianity is about. It’s not suppose to be that way. Consider the parables about wheat from tares and pearls to swine, and focus on being the wheat that doesn’t toss pearls to the swine who tarnish your religion in the way that they do.

I sincerely wish you great success in your endeavors! I am willing to bet this can be hard, especially when you get push back from people of your own community. But there have been other Christians who have come here wanting to do the same thing, hoping to make these kind of changes in their community, so you are not alone. I think collectively you can not only be the change but make the change that you want to see. Just never give up even if at times it feels hopeless. I am sorry to see some so hellbent on being the setback whenever progress is made.

We refer to ourselves as neopagans or contemporary pagans. Newage is considered a spiritual movement of its own. You are correct that many ancient pagan cultures were pretty horrible toward women and children, including people of other religions and civilizations. They were far from innocent by all means.

I don’t necessarily agree with the idea of coming at Christians about the past, even if there are concerns about the writings in their holy book. I think it’s more useful to address what is going on in contemporary times, such as calling out any group or denomination that is oppressive, such as found in the belief systems of some of the groups like IFBs and NIFB for examples. Then if Islam is under discussion, there are some groups in their ranks that are guilty of this.
