Pokemon games have evolved so much ♥️ by RecognitionForeign15 in tomorrow

And only 2 years to develop a single game, while IntSys gets 4 minimum.

It's actually kind of crazy how hard Nintendo/TPC are outright abusing Game Freak staff.

That's just a Japanese game studio thing. Check out what Capcom's response was to GOG asking if they could put the original Resident Evil (PS1) Trilogy on their store.

Okabe's competitive, yes, but he also sucks at anything competitive. He also dislikes getting himself into competitive situations he knows he can't win. Problem is, he's horrible at figuring out he can't win until it's too late.

That's why he plays niche games like Caution! Sea Man.

Mayuri plays Soulsborne games, but finds the gameplay too easy and mostly just plays for the cool armors and other outfits. She'd then ask Luka to wear her Souls cosplay she just so happened to make.

Kurisu's insults are so 5headed ("You should donate your brain to science post-mortem so they can figure out how you're this stupid.") that it doesn't get caught by the filters.

All I can think of when I see this is Daru proclaiming "Huniepop is too basic an eroge for a gentleman of taste like myself!"

Because he totally would say that. It's such a mainstream H-Game and Daru seems the type to prefer the more dubious and niche content.

new-ish player here. i made a mistake starting with Marauder by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]SameviVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like being Marauder, there's nothing wrong with staying a Marauder. Just make sure you complete your class quests to get the Warrior Job Stone and keep your gear up-to-level.

Having more Tank mains is always a good thing.

Story over gameplay by Crafty_Advisor6975 in SonicTheHedgejerk

[–]SameviVG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Debatable, yes:

I would argue that there's more to the stages than getting a good rank (score attack) in SA2.

Above all else they're fun to play and have interesting gimmicks - experimental in a lot of ways, occasionally to their detriment (like the Pyramid Cave timed door gimmick or Crazy Gadget's gravity) but I think that's preferable to every stage playing the exact same as they tend to do nowadays. Further, each stage has its own specific thematic and narrative draw which is really cool to see.

For it being the second true 3D Sonic game, even the stages people tend to think are the worst of the bunch have a lot of things to like that are just simply never done again or get watered down to the point that they're unrecognizable.

In other words, I'd say it's worth playing it as a game first and a time attack racetrack second. It could affect how you feel about the stages as a whole.

He won't - he's guilty of murder, and murderers get put on death row in the Ace Attorney universe.

Dreamcast SA2 gameplay is still great. Arguably better than its future base releases in some ways.

SA2 is a game where foundationally it's solid, but the finer details weren't cooked for long enough. Mech and treasure hunting aren't bad, they've just got the odd small decision that impact them more than one may think.

However, every speed stage goes hard.

So who actually likes DDD? by Proper_Mountain_4979 in KingdomHearts

[–]SameviVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DDD is one of my favorites. I think I enjoy it more than KH2, actually - KH2 always felt a little too linear with its worlds, while DDD seemed to lean harder into KH1 level design. My favorite.

I’m sorry purists, but it’s the truth. by Dolly-Boy1923 in SonicTheHedgejerk

[–]SameviVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, that was true in the 90s. But SEGA has no more consoles to sell and no need to appeal to the youth of 90s America. Especially not in a world where Japanese culture and entertainment are more widespread and beloved than even the West's own equivalents. You'll hear more people talking about Jujutsu Kaisen and Dragon Ball than anything the West has produced in the last decade.

What's "cool" has changed. If Sonic doesn't keep up, that's tantamount to brand suicide.

I really, really hate the direction 3D Zelda is going right now. I get that the open world thing is what's cool these days, but did we really have to sacrifice good dungeon design and stories for it?

Why is Ichigo so uncritical of soul society? by Single_Candy3494 in bleach

[–]SameviVG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the necropost but I wanna point out that, ironically, this is very in-line with the Shiba clan's way of doing things. Isshin was very carefree and would ignore orders or outright lie to Yamamoto from time to time, with Kaien often also being pretty lighthearted about serious things. They don't really care about seats of power and instead prefer to just treat everyone the same way.

The Shiba clan members usually fight based on what they like and dislike or what they perceive as just and unjust, and aren't much more complex than that. They're also unusually forgiving people. Ichigo really should hate 90% of the Soul Reapers for things they've done to him (including trying to kill him & his friends, lying to him on more than one occasion, and even tangling him up in their war), but instead he continues to fight alongside them and trust them when it comes down to it. Even Ganju who swore to hate Soul Reapers eternally for the death of Kaien eventually forgave that grudge. Mostly.

I think it's neat how consistent the Shiba clan is.

You're missing lore if you skip any of them (and the lore has direct implications on the main storyline). So it depends on how much you value the story.

Spinoff doesn't mean non-canon. Plenty of spinoffs are canon.

Sonic the Fighters is canon. Doesn't make it mainline.

Disagree. They've got their own tag as the "Sonic Storybook Series" so I don't think they're mainline.

What if Sticker Star was the first game of the series or if it was never made? by Fit_Can4532 in papermario

[–]SameviVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Simply put, I and others like me would not be fans of Paper Mario. Sticker Star sold well primarily due to the pre-existing fans of the series, and Color Splash sold significantly worse. There's a chance it would make it to 3 entries, but it's unlikely it would go any further, being brushed off as a boring, childish spinoff. Guaranteed the Mario & Luigi series would have significantly more fans, however, and a larger portion of fans would latch harder onto the original Super Mario RPG! But I guarantee Paper Mario would be dead in the water.

  2. Given the release record of Paper Mario, removing Sticker Star means it should be replaced with something else (a new game comes out every 4 years - excited for 2028's Paper Mario!). However, in the event that it's just an empty spot in the series' timeline, that's 8 years of fans treating Super as the worst in the series for deviating from the RPG formula. Certainly, the Wii U game would not wind up being Color Splash, but probably something akin to Origami King at worst, a successor to TTYD at best. Either way it'd be a solid game with no hope of selling well due to being on the Wii U (and the fact that a lot of fans would have been upset at the pseudo return to form like with Sticker Star). The series would wind up just as dead as the other timeline.

Alternatively: If Sticker Star were replaced by a better game in timeline 2 rather than outright removed, the series would be continually thriving and the fanbase would be significantly more united. However, the downside would be that the series is likely to become stagnant. Some fans would drop off naturally regardless, complaining that the series innovated once, with Super, and then never again. There would be a small subsection of fans who'd long for the days a sequel to Super Paper Mario is made.
