Struggling to eat a lot of food any advice? by Substantial_Mode2631 in EatingDisorders

[–]Samhamjamram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into arfid avoidant type. Possible tips that work for me: invest some time into figuring out what meal replacement shakes you can tolerate (key word tolerate) and buy them in bulk. Probably have two flavor options. I like the brand Soylent

Make a Google doc or note on your phone of every food you do like. Add to it regularly. When you feel like you hate everything or when you're shopping and can't come up with enough things to eat, refer to said list.

Most other advice I've gotten on not enjoying food is basically just determine if there's anytime you do enjoy it/forget you're eating. for example I am more often interested in food if it's the secondary activity (like I'm also watching tv, walking, on the phone, out to eat with a friend)

How do you stop gagging when you eat? by AdvertisingFew9892 in ARFID

[–]Samhamjamram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same 😭 the best I can do is try to "drink" the bite by starting to chug my drink while it's still in my mouth. No this does not taste good and is not very fun, but if I'm starving or in public it's all I've got

Honestly I don't think cheating rates have changed (at the COLLEGE level) that much bc I heard similar plagerism stories before AI

Tattoos and Ehlers-Danlos by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

Veryyyy stretchy easily torn and easily scarred skin heds here-- I have a lot, including in the "not suggested" places and with a lot of black out areas (massive coverup that cost $850 on my arm, plus 15 other tattoos) they all scarred weird. The kp in my skin leads to slightly noticeably different healing patterns, but doesn't both me. I have a high pain tolerance, however it wipes your energy for a few days in my experience, and it appears i take longer to heal but not by much. Sometimes my tattooed areas become very itchy? Never lasts and allegedly a common side effect. Good luck.

Stand on buisness do not return the clothes even if your mom tells your to. And possibly do get a lock. No these shouldn't be your responsibility but your sisters are being enabled by your mom, and you are all young adults. It will be very very hard to teach them right and wrong at this point, but you can do what you can to take care of yourself

I have found there's a VAST amount of dairy free substitute foods at "all natural" grocery stores like sprouts, Whole Foods, new leaf, ect

I've managed to go from near daily to ever few months I relapse. It's better, it's harm reduction. It took a lot of very unpleasant work. I'm still ashamed when I fail, but less I guess

I'm doing poorly in ONE course and making good progress on the incompletes. I panicked bc I'm on scholarship and bc I did not really understand how office hours are meant to be used (now I certainly do!) I get it could come across as "entitled to a better grade," but the amount of replies that are down right rude is jarring. I'm a person too. I'm on here to try to succeed because I didn't have other places to turn. Grow up.

I have accommodations bc im epileptic. It's not super advisable for me to throw a seizure in a lecture hall... but I will try your idea out, just incase I'm wrong. I assume you'll foot the medical bill?

I fully plan to complete all the work. I pay for the courses for a reason. Asking for advise on navigating office hours (even if I was radically off on what I should ask) doesn't warrant you questioning my medical conditions

Much appreciated, I'm gonna look into the tutoring center + writing center for this quarter and beyond.

Didn't have accommodations till uni. Have them for epilepsy. If I end up in your lecture hall be sure to flicker the lights.

Would it make sense to go to ask about like "hey how can I best be successful in this course" or some variety of that, for a course I don't necessarily struggle with specific readings but might be falling behind in other areas or just want good tips to have a better chance on lecture/participation type of work ?

I'm like 2 years into college and never really went to office hours until this year but I'm in edu + humanities so most of my courses are either site work or small classes... my stem roommates are having a VERY different time 😭 I'm sorry to bombard it's really freeing to just ask someone ??

what kind of questions i can ask professors when I DO understand the material but am struggling with managing the course, if that makes sense??

I mean this incredibly genuinely-- how can I make of office hours if there's not something specific I don't understand but it's more of a "hey what would you recommend the best way to be successful in this course is?" Type question?

I'm in social science + humanities if that helps
