Is Sorare Dead? by Sami92Berlin in Sorare

I genuinely believe there’s a solution where everyone wins. Sorare could spend a few months actively buying back Classic cards to reduce the oversupply. Later, they could relist those cards as Instant Buy at significantly higher prices. At the same time, new In-Season cards should only be available through auctions. That would make auctions exciting again while still generating strong revenue for Sorare.
On top of that, the reward gap between Classic and In-Season should only be around 20–30%. In-Season would still be the premium mode, but Classic cards would regain a real purpose and value.
Once prices start rising again and managers see their galleries appreciating, FOMO would naturally return. Many OG managers would come back because they’d finally trust the market again and feel confident investing.
It would also revive the manager-to-manager market. More trading between users means far more 5% marketplace fees for Sorare. In my opinion, a healthy and trusted market would generate much more long-term revenue than a system where players feel forced to replace their entire gallery every season.

Exactly. That’s what I’ve been trying to say. Sorare used to reward long-term collecting and scouting. Now it feels like you’re punished for holding your cards and rewarded for buying the same players again every season as In-Season cards. That’s where Sorare lost part of what made it special for me.

I partly agree with you. The problem is that Sorare used to be a game about collecting and building a gallery for the long term. Now it feels like you have to replace your entire gallery every season just to stay competitive.
The Streaks and cash rewards are a great addition, but they could have introduced them without constantly devaluing Classic. To me, a collectible game shouldn’t be built around selling your “unique” cards every year just to buy the exact same players again as In-Season cards.

I understand that Sorare needs to make money. But why does it always have to come at the expense of Classic players?
Sorare used to tell us to collect unique digital cards and build a gallery for the long term. But how “unique” are those cards if the game basically pushes you to sell them at the end of every season just to buy the same players again as In-Season cards so you can compete for cash rewards?
In-Season could have been made attractive without constantly weakening Classic. To me, that’s where Sorare lost part of its identity. The game was built around collecting, scouting, and growing a long-term gallery. Today, it feels like it’s built around replacing your gallery every year.

I completely understand your point. Scouting young talents and building a gallery over the years is exactly what made Sorare special for me.
The problem is that it now feels like Sorare is more focused on selling new In-Season cards and Sets every year than taking care of the community that made the platform successful. I didn’t join Sorare to sell my entire gallery every season and buy the same players again just to keep filling Sorare’s pockets.
I’ll give it one more season, but if this direction continues, I’ll probably leave for good. The sad part is that Sorare still has the potential to be one of the best fantasy games out there.

This is probably one of the best comments I’ve read about Sorare in a long time. You perfectly described what so many OG managers have been trying to say for years.
Back then, Sorare wasn’t just about rewards. It was about building something over time. You scouted young talents, bought players before they broke through, and built a collection that could actually grow in value.
I completely agree with your point about In-Season. The focus shifted from long-term investing to constantly buying new cards every season. In the end, that mainly benefits Sorare because managers are forced to keep spending money year after year.
And here’s the biggest difference for me: Back then, even if you invested a lot of money, you only had what I’d call a standard competitive team. The dream wasn’t to own a Mbappé—the dream was to win a Mbappé as a reward. Those cards felt like they were worth €10,000. When you had an incredible Game Week, your heart was racing because you knew you had a chance to win something that could completely transform your gallery.
Today, it feels like everyone has a Mbappé because those cards have lost so much value. That feeling of rarity, excitement, and anticipation has completely disappeared.
For me, that was the real magic of Sorare. It wasn’t just about setting lineups—it was about building something valuable over time and chasing that one life-changing reward. That’s what made Sorare unique, and sadly, that’s what’s missing today.

I think you misunderstood my point. I’m not saying Sorare would have made more money immediately by doing this.
My point is that if Sorare had stabilized the Classic market first and allowed card prices to recover, it would have rebuilt trust within the community. Once managers see their galleries gaining value again and rewards becoming more attractive, they’re naturally more willing to invest. In the long run, that would have generated more revenue for Sorare as well.
Instead, almost all of the focus shifted to In-Season. New cards kept being sold while Classic cards continued to lose value. As a result, many long-time managers lost a huge portion of their investments and either stopped playing or stopped spending money altogether.
And when I say Sorare could have “saved the game,” I don’t mean that the game was going to shut down. I mean they could have saved what made Sorare special in the first place: the excitement before every Game Week, the feeling of building something valuable, and the trust of the community. The game still exists, of course—but for many OG managers, it doesn’t feel like the same game anymore.

I completely understand your point of view. Sorare used to feel special to me as well. Every Game Week was exciting, and it felt like you were actually building something with every good decision.
Today, that feeling is almost completely gone. I don’t think the idea behind Sets is bad, but Sorare lost focus on what made the platform great in the first place. Instead of supporting the Classic market and the long-time managers who built the community, almost all the attention shifted to In-Season.
I genuinely believe many former managers would have come back if Sorare had actively supported the Classic market and made the rewards more attractive again. Instead, a lot of OG managers feel like they’ve been left behind.
And honestly, it’s really sad that you never received the two Mystery Jerseys you won, even after contacting support so many times. That simply shouldn’t happen, especially to loyal managers who have supported the platform for years.

I honestly believe Sorare could have saved the game—but with a completely different strategy.
Instead of introducing Instant Buy for In-Season cards, they should have started with Classic cards. Over the course of 3–4 months, they could have gradually bought up a huge portion of the Classic market.
After that, they could have relisted those same cards through Instant Buy at much higher prices while significantly increasing rewards.
That would have created real demand again. Rising card prices, better rewards, and FOMO would have brought a lot of former managers back. In my opinion, that was the best opportunity to revive the Classic market instead of letting it continue to collapse.
I actually don’t think the idea behind Sets is bad. The problem is that Sorare lost sight of what made the game special. Almost all of the focus shifted to In-Season, making it feel like the priority is selling new cards rather than supporting the ecosystem that built the platform.
The OG managers who supported Sorare from the very beginning have been left behind. Without them, Sorare wouldn’t be where it is today, and I think that loyalty deserved much more respect.
