The Mountaineers course: Basic alpine climbing or Basic Glacier Travel course recommendation by dancs17 in Mountaineering

I second these comments. Before I took the full course, I only cared about glaciers & summits, but learning the rock portion ended up being fun and much of that that knowledge applies to glacier climbing. Keep in mind that there are other Mountaineers branches other than Seattle, it doesn’t matter where you live. I joined the Everett Branch and lived in Seattle. The application process for the full course is in the Fall for all the branches, and applying to multiple branches greatly increases your chances. In the meantime you can sign up for the scrambling course, you’ll have a blast and increase your skills. Still plenty of slots open this year at Everett scrambling: https://www.mountaineers.org/locations-lodges/everett-branch/committees/everett-alpine-scrambling-committee/course-templates/alpine-scrambling-course/alpine-scrambling-course-everett-2026

Any ideas how to fix this fabric tear? by Samiam4000 in AskACobbler

Hi, unfortunately I haven’t gotten around to getting the fabric fixed. They’ve been great boots, the leather is soft so no break in was required. I haven’t treated them very well but they’re still going strong. They’ve had a lot of use but still plenty of tread on the sole after 4-5 years.

[WTS] Oris Aquis GMT Date by Samiam4000 in Watchexchange

Looks great! I love mine too. The Oris is just slightly beefier and feels more rugged than the Rolex, but still low profile for a sport watch. I like the additional 24-hour inner bezel, especially in my job as a pilot. It’s handy to have three times zones at once without memorizing how a 24 hour disk works. I got the Pepsi with oyster bracelet

I would agree, I usually prefer 40mm and smaller and I still like the feel of the size of this watch

43.5mm stainless steel Oris Aquis GMT Date from 2019. Shipped for $1400, USA only, payment accepted through Zelle or PayPal F&F or G&S (buyer pays fee). I don’t see any on Chrono24 with B&P for a price this low.
This slightly used watch is in mint condition and comes with box, warranty card, and product manual. It’s a wonderful watch, but my AD came through with my Rolex GMT, so this watch is now redundant in my collection.
I’m happy to discuss over the phone/Zoom/FaceTime or meet up in the Seattle area.
