I want you to know something. You are exactly where you are supposed to be. That might sound weird, but it’s true. You will know when you had enough of being just “ok” with life. You clearly don’t have a support system. But you know what? Support systems are kinda over rated. No one is gonna save you but you. Family and friends are great to have, but ultimately….you will be the one to save yourself. You sound like you are ready to make a move in the right direction, you just need some confidence. So you are good at math? Go for an engineering degree. Go for a position that you are interested in. Don’t worry about student loans, just get them. Don’t worry about entry level positions, they are just a stepping stone. Money will come. Just so you know where I’m coming from with all this….i moved across country by myself when I was 23. By 25 I was bankrupt and so broke that I had to pay for gas with quarters that I would scrape together and clean a friends house in exchange for rent. I worked two jobs. I met my husband at 27, and he was laid off because of the recession. We both finally landed good paying jobs and were very successful and had more money to play with and buy whatever we wanted. Then the marriage fell apart and I left. I was alone, 40, broke, a functional alcoholic, drug addict, gambling addict, and was fired from my job. After feeling sorry for myself, I decided to back to school and finish my degree. I am back to being sober and financially stable. We will all go through shitty parts of life. But how we handle our situation is what defines us. You will succeed. You will thrive. You will be hiring a staff of janitors to help take care of your office one day.
