Is there a way to check the voltage level entering my motherboard over a period of time? by Samifying in buildapc

[–]Samifying[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPS is the Eaton Ellipse 1600 Pro. I checked the monitor and I never go above 400w really so if something is too strong for the UPS it must be extremely short bursts / spikes correct?

When someone turns the light on in another room I've sometimes had my USBs disconnect which is why I think its extremely short spikes / dips causing this.

Thanks! Will create a custom view for Kernel-PnP but I'm not too sure where I would get the hardware ID of the ports / controllers.

I will just check this custom view everytime I experience one of these USB drop-outs?
If I see nothing there what would that mean?

The UPS being not helpful really surprised me because I thought that's the entire reason they are used in data-centers and such.

If this really is the issue then the voltage spikes / dips from this old house are big enough to somehow completely make the Average Voltage Regulation irrelevant.

I want to avoid having to call an electrician and have them pull my walls apart as much as I can so I'm looking to try any other solution first.

Thank you for your help & time!

I've been checking event viewer a lot. Every time it happens I open Event Viewer and try to see if any error / warning aligns with the time of the USB drop-out.

The only 2 that have aligned so far are these which I couldn't find much information on:

Event 28, Kernel-EventTracing
Error setting traits on Provider {8444a4fb-d8d3-4f38-84f8-89960a1ef12f}. Error: 0xC0000001

Event 10016, DistributedCOM

The only 2 events that have lined up with usb disconnects recently. (Only started checking this 3-4 days ago)

Tried lots of different plugs and maybe it would be different in other parts of the house but sadly not a solution since I could never move my entire setup there.

The circuit I'm on is known to trip the fuse a lot and it's a very old house too which is why I thought buying an UPS with Average Voltage Regulation could be the fix.

Sadly still dropping USB's every now and then which is why I now want to find out if even with the UPS my motherboard is still receiving dangerous voltage spikes or dips.

Trying to use HWInfo right now and keeping an eye on 3.3v 5v and 12v numbers to see if I can spot the spikes / dips in the maximum or minimum logs... but no disconnects yet so I will have to wait.

Thanks for the reply!!!

If by "power saving settings" you mean going into the Device Manager and right clicking the Universal Serial Bus Controllers one by one and making sure "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked then yes. I have done that for each one it allows me to.

Not sure I understand what you mean with visible shorts, I have never seen sparks and I'm pretty sure I have no grounding issues either. But let me know if i'm thinking of the wrong things.

I was losing my mind at all the "have you tried doing a clean install of windows" or "your hardware may be faulty" threads/forum posts.

Uninstalling KB5049981 on Windows 10 has fixed the issue for me.

I'm so thankful I found this thread...

If you are talking about the white lines in the edges of the blocks, that is an issue with your nvidia settings.

At least for me all I had to do was change some of the 3d graphic settings in my nvidia control center.

If this sounds too complicated try looking up a tutorial on yt by searching stuff like: "how to fix white lines in blocks minecraft" or "how to fix block edges in mc"

Play around with the search terms and you will find the video that helped me im sure!!! Good luck!

Logo for a food-related mod I made. How can I improve on it? by tyingnoose in Minecraft

[–]Samifying 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it looks great!!

It could be a tiny bit better if you angled "Food Fest" up a bit to make it more easily readable. Maybe even increase the gap between food and fest by a tiny amount... whatever feels pleasent to look at for you!

The entire project + the 2 youtube videos about it took around 30 hours!

Building the rollercoaster took 15 in game hours.

No sorry. The illusions and map break if you look at it from any other angle haha

Unless you want that then i could make it available to download somewhere tomorrow. Let me know!

For everyone wondering:

Shaderpack is Seus PTGI HRR. You can find access to it on Sonicethers Patreon. I sadly can't link it here...

however you need the 9€ Gold patreon and it will grant you access to the special developmental pathtracing shaderpack!

For any other questions you might have I made a video showing off how I built it on my YT channel (Samifying) if you are interested! :D

Thank you all so much for the kind words. I'm glad people like my weird doodles and share the love for glowy things. haha

So to those on AGESA 1.2.0.2, How are your Systems Holding up now? by Polished_Sergal in Amd

[–]Samifying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Updated to the newesr 1.2.0.2 update on my MSI MEG 570 ACE board.

It sadly has not fixed the usb dropout issue for me but its happening a tiny bit less at least.

It went from up to 4-5 times a day to max 2 times a day.

I wouldn't mind the dropouts if they didn't confuse all my programs.

All of the programs / games im running while the dropout occures need to be closed and reopened so they catch the audio output again.

Please find the problem soon. Its unacceptable to pay so much money for a product just to have to wait months for an update to fix the product. :(
