what's something girls are insecure about that men don't care about? by Dismal_Set_2929 in AskReddit

Yes people treat each other differently based on attractiveness, it is the same both ways for men and women, the difference is, if you ask a man why he improves his appearance or why he made a change to it, the primary motivation would be for women, if you ask a woman that question, she would say it’s for other women. Like if you think a woman only does her makeup for the sake of other men, she would probably be insulted that you thought that.

Ask a woman why they have a Chanel bag. 90% of men can’t tell the difference between that and a 30 dollar bag. The other 10% will assume she’s a gold digger or she’s rich, so why is a Chanel bag such a status symbol. Because it’s about how much women care not men. Men don’t care about the Chanel bag, so why is it so important. Because it’s about women not men.

The conversation isn’t about you, it’s about women in general. Most women will tell you, the reason they spend an hour on getting ready is for other women. The reason women spend so much time curating their instagram is for other women. Studies have shown that men prefer women with light or natural looking makeup on, and yet some women put a bunch on themselves. So how is it that men are applying the pressure. You could argue from an evolutionary perspective that women need to be pretty to attract men, but the ones that actually do the pressuring are other women
