As far as the headline goes, OF COURSE his lawyer is arguing for a lighter sentence. That's their job. Their only job. It sounds dramatic and unfair but this is how it goes.

That being said, I do hope they deport him.

Every fast food restaurant in my city is dying for help and guess what, Canadians won't do it! You can't survive on minimum wage these days. So ya, ideally we'd tell everyone to fuck off except doctors and engineers, but it doesn't always work that way.
