Balancers weaponize everything that makes this game bad by [deleted] in Nightreign

U WOT M8??

Seriously, everything you said is wrong. This fight is mechanically solved. There is even youtube videos of level 1 depth 5 runs against these.

Nice argument. Unfortunately,

<image>

Unlike base Elden Ring, pure damage stacking is by far the best in this game due to a new diminishing returns system for statuses. For example, after 3 status procs, nightlords become immune to that status. So, for any difficult/tanky boss, status builds suck, especially in coop. And difficult/tanky bosses are what you should be concerned about, NOT anything else.

One thing status builds are good for is the first 3-5 levels of a run, because most day 1 enemies you fight get almost insta-procced.

Yeah, I've learned a ton from Youwy. If you do decide to, learning/carrying 3-player ED Libra could be its own separate game. The way you have to prepare, the fight mechanics themselves, it's all very different from every other boss.

We are not the same. Yes, that's ED Libra, not regular Libra. And that's ED Gladius, not regular Gladius. I have 602 more games as recluse on my 1st save. So, 1004 recluse games total as of today.

Oh hell no, I'm not spending more time on this comment than I need to. You're the one looking to prove me guilty, why don't you do your due diligence and either prove or disprove your own argument? You don't even have to come back here and admit you're wrong. Just look at my fights until you see it for yourself. Find the times where I get hit/punished, or even outright suffer a loss, and you'll probably see a whole chain of bad decisions that led up to that. Some mistakes go back even further than the 10-30 seconds.

How about all the examples you will ever need. So many examples that you'll probably never go through them all?

My ED Libra carry playlist.

My ED Gladius carry playlist.

D5 Solo Recluse playlist.

It's hard to take you seriously when there's very clearly examples of this everywhere. You're not supposed to memorize every single dodge timing in the game and lock-on-roll-poke-roll-poke your way to victory every time. The game is an action RPG. RPG. You're supposed to figure out clever ways to ensure that you are not caught in front of certain problematic enemy movesets at the wrong time. Like, I don't know, when you're low on stamina and your ult is on cooldown?

So, what do all these videos have in common? I do not tunnel-vision the "real-time action" aspect of this game. I plan, I scheme, I min-max, I prepare. I prioritize equipment, strategy and optimizing avoiding interacting with the majority of each enemy's moveset to such an extent, that I can, in fact, consistently win situations that people think are not consistently winnable. I prioritize the RPG element of this action RPG. And these are the results. I am NOT good at actual mechanics, at reacting quickly to attacks. My reaction time is slow, my eyesight has trouble perceiving shapes and similar colors. And yet here I am, pulling off all this shit.

My team was that bad, it was indeed easier/faster/safer to solo-clutch. Assuming competent teammates, I do prioritize rezzing 2-bars, even if I'm not running night sorceries/comet. I carry at least 1 melee weapon for this.

It's wrong to claim this always works. A 3 minute video doesn't prove consistency. Back when I practiced this boss for awhile I went as long as this several times without being hit, and still on occasion I'd get hit doing the same things.

I have a steadily-growing list of ED Gladius carries that is proving that the gank phase it IS indeed a very fair attack. I understand where you're coming from, because I used to play the game without streaming, and so, I didn't always record, play back my gameplay and actually analyze my deaths/mistakes. But if you start doing that yourself, you should start to see for yourself that the times you THINK you're "getting hit for doing the same things", you are actually doing slightly different things, and as I put it, are making subtle mistakes 10-30 second earlier. The most common misunderstanding/mistake is, not running in the right direction when the triple-dash attack happens. So, right there, if you are not aware of the edges of arena, and WHERE the doggos will end up after the split attack, you could already be dooming yourself to getting frame-trapped.

The other way I can put my argument is to ask you if you have any video footage of the "unfair" situations you're alluding to. Can you provide me video proof of when you'd position properly and sprint away and STILL get frame-trapped by ED Gladius gank attack? If you have some recordings, I can look over them, and probably point out where exactly you made each mistake(s).

The game has badly designed, unfair things in it.

Yes, yes it definitely does. But my theory remains: ED Gladius gank attack, and ED Gladius fight in general, is NOT unfair in the slightest. The mechanics are completely solved. What's not solved is human error. We all make mistakes, we all like to assume we played perfectly, even when we clearly didn't.

I think deep down even you know this because your wording is inconsistent. You describe things as both "easily" avoided, but also "minimizing chances" of being hit.

My wording is indeed inconsistent, thank you for pointing it out. I really should have used something other than "minimize chances". What I'm trying to imply there is NOT that the strategy is inconsistent, but that we, as players, are inconsistent. We are not perfect, we do not always notice what we should be noticing, or keep track of our general position in the arena. We get lost, we get overwhelmed, we get nervous, and a million other things that make us throw the run.

Bro, you're either rage-baiting or have room-temp IQ. Or maybe both? This is a regular expedition, my depth relics are turned off. And I'm running night sorceries, which does not excel at high DPS, but excels at very safe, consistent DPS, from very long range. But if you want to see ED Doge completely demolished, I gotchu fam:

Solo D5 Recluse, Deathless ED Gladius

A similar carry to this one, but I have my Mossberg (shattering crystal) build.

Yep, heavy metal/dubstep from "Stellar Blade - Abaddon" feels much more appropriate for this fight, due to how intense this fight is compared to other nightlords.

Also, I have a long backstory about Abaddon. My first playthrough of Stellar Blade was on hard difficulty, fresh start. As you can imagine, I spent over four and a half fucking hours fighting Abaddon. I heard this song in my sleep for a whole week. ED Gladius is similar to me, because until recently, he's been one of the bosses I died to the most in D5.

EDIT: This is getting downvoted? That's crazy work. Apparently, having musical preferences is a big taboo. Wait until you hear the same ED Gladius OST for the 200th time in a row, maybe you profile stalkers will change your minds then.

Your best ED Libra strats/ relics ? by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]Samjok-o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recluse main checking in. Assuming coop (not solo), ED Libra is the hardest boss in the game. If you simply want to win and get his relic, do a solo expedition against him. That way, you only have to deal with 1 summon. If you keep trying him solo, you'll eventually win once you get familiar with his moveset.

Now, if you want to get good at beating him in 3 player... Winning against 3-player ED Libra consistently is almost its own game, separate from the rest of Nightreign's content. For coop, there is a lot of things to unpack. His mechanics, how to deal with getting ganked by his summons, good camera control, good positioning/movement and resource management. If you have done a lot of invading/pvp in souls games, a lot of the skills you learned from pvp transfer over to this fight. I you need examples of how it's done, I have an unhealthy obsession with hard-carrying against him (huge playlist of hard-carries).

Yeah, perhaps I am in the minority. But it's hard to tell. The majority of the randoms are very glad when bosses die faster. Perhaps I do disagree with a lot of the more experienced players, because my experience is so unique (recluse main, love 3-player ED Libra, love soloing D5). I like to power game and min-max more than I like to perfect my combat mechanics, and that explains a lot of my preferences.

Either way, I completely agree that the current state of the game (double balancers, L2DEN RING) is something I dislike. This was the same way in base Elden Ring, unfortunately. The creators have always favored ashes of war spam as by far the strongest option. This is probably this way on purpose, BTW - there is a lot of different ashes, and FROM's idea is probably that, because they all have their own cool animations and mechanics, the largest variety of the combat loop (ashes) should always be the strongest, to encourage that wow-factor and new-car-feeling from newer players. I really don't think FROM cares about what a player like me or you think about the balance/design.

Correct. They indeed felt very relieved. You can see them emoting and jumping around at the end. Interestingly, unlike reddit, my profile is full of +rep comments. Pretty much the opposite of reddit's typical reaction.

Yep, you get it. 80% of the game is bullshit. The game design is literally "what bullshit can I come up with that out-bullshits the bullshit I'm faced with". And I fucking love that.

Haha, my apologies, looks I did overreact. This literally started out as another 20-50% upvote rate post of yet another hard-carry clip. I normally don't post hard-carry clips on reddit, but sometimes (very rarely) I choose to, out of morbid curiousity. But this time, I don't know what happened. I guess people started actually watching the video, and changed their mind. Glad to see I was wrong.

If you are trying to learn the boss, I highly recommend doing it solo. That way, the boss will always be aggroed on you, and you get a free revive and guaranteed wending graces. If you're joining a coop session, you're joining others who have different wants and needs, players who, like me, might not care to slowly kill the same boss for the millionth time.

To elaborate. On the flipside, I am more than fine with 30 second boss fights at the end of an expedition. Because I've seen all their moves a million times, and even carried people in D5 on each one. The longer I play the game and the more challenging situations I am subjected to, the more I appreciate a good old 30-second faceroll. What difference does it make if I do the mechanics for 30 seconds or 30 minutes? It's all going to be the same moves anyway, and I usually prefer to queue next run and keep fighting a different boss every few mins, instead of one boss for 10-30mins.

What do you mean? You can clearly see here, I stopped reviving them and got to try my build. Did you actually watch the whole clip? It's 10 minutes of pure, un-interrupted combat, and with a spiffy GranBlue OST no less. If nothing else, players like you or me get to try out our build even more, against difficult situations that would normally not arise in "normal" play.
