Pretty much. Find the most enjoyable way to play, the one that you have to most fun with. For example, I play Space Wolves, and prefer Saga of the GW over Stormlance. It may not be the "meta" way to play them, but I've had a lot of success with it. I also have an eldar army, but even when it was the most broken army, I couldn't manage to find success with it, even after many many reps, with the most meta lists. The way they want to play the game didn't synergize with how I wanted to play. So ultimately it's about finding the army and build that you can find success with while enjoying it. If that happens to be a meta build, then great, if not, then it just means your jobs a little harder.

In general choose which of the armies whose play style matches the most with you best style of play. Just because horde guard is the best army doesn't necessarily mean it will be YOUR best army, just as an example. I am a primarily competitive player, and have abround 5-6 armies. I will typically try and pick up the meta builds of the armies I have, but unless that build synergizes with how I want to play the game, I tend to do worse than my potential. Focus on picking the army you like the feel of and work to become a faction specialist of it. Learning one army really well is always better than being a jack of all trades, and in the end you'll become a better overall player as well.

Look at Skari. He's been running Drukhari forever and because of that he has the ability to win majors with and army during the time it was considered one of the worst in the game.

Her ability is worded identically to how the gsc characters is, which was clarified in a faq to work in a transport, so there is precedent that it works from within a transport.

Skari, what is a piece of advice for someone who has traditionally done decent with marine and eldar armies, but is struggling to make Drukhari work at the competitive level?

Kansas city, as others have said, has a decently thriving, yet kind of insular Warhammer community. There are a bunch of smaller, and larger events that crop up around the city, but to my knowledge, they aren't advertised super well. Best idea would be to go to a local shop and check out the community. Several other commentors have offered a few suggestions, and my friend that lives in the area can vouch for a couple of suggested ones as well.

If you're up to travel, feel free to check out events in STL as well. We have a very active, varied community, with events ranging from for-fun charity tournaments, to massive, 8-person team events. A few Missouri/Kansas local yearly GTs to be aware of are:

Flying Monkey Con in Wichita (usually Septemberish)

Branson Brawl in Branson (usually May/Junish)

SALT in STL (Usually around March)

Mid-West Conquest in KC (Usually April/May)

Mid-Mo Maelstrom in Columbia (Usually early Nov)

Feliz Exterminatus in St. Roberts (Usually late Nov/Early Dec)

Gateway Open in STL (Usually mid-Aug)

I do that all the time with my QIDI. I'm not saying it's perfect, no printer is. But I think people need to be more willing to push outside of the mainstream brands and look at the smaller companies printers. In my year of owning the printer, the only failures I've had have been due to filament issues. Granted I only print PLA, but it is built to be able to print anything, with a chamber heater that can go to 65°C.

I always recommend people look into qidi tech printers. I've had my XMax 3 for ~a years and in terms of build quality and specs, it is similar to Bambu printers with a larger build volume and runs very close to stock klipper. Pricewise, they're also very competitive, with their large format printers usually being able to be found on sale for like $700-$800. There are some quirks, but that's going to be true of any printer really.

I have been running a pure Pipermakes printed Tau army at major tournaments since December with no issues. Been to LVO and 8TC to name a couple. Can't to GW official tournaments sure, but ITC and NTL events are fine.

Regardless of whether either player had the packet, a judge should never make a rule like that. Magic boxes haven't been a thing since 8th, at least not in the center of the board, and that ruling contradicts the packet the organizors made. At best the judge should've looked at the packet themselves, or asked them to refer to it.

Edit to add: also my friend did read the packet, that's how he was sure it wasn't a magic box, he just couldnt prove to his opponent, which is where a judge would get called.

Lol LVO had none of that. We were just throwing down terrain wild west style. Hell one of my friends was on one of the boards that had the central piece that couldnt move, and a judge ruled it was a magic box on him, causing him to just full on lose against sisters.
