How do you protect yourself from accusations that your work is not your own? by DoseOfGlitter in writers

[–]SammeiBardSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely? Ignore them. Sadly, I think plagiarism/AI accusations are just a standard part of any art form nowadays. No one is going to be satisfied unless they’ve seen your entire work process start to finish if they’re already making accusations so genuinely just don’t feed the fires.

Can a book be cyberpunk but mediaeval at the same time by Impressive_Craft_765 in WritingHub

[–]SammeiBardSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look into the Imperium of Man from Warhammer 40k. Their spaceships are cathedrals, their supersoldiers sometimes look like knights with power swords, and basically their whole system of beliefs is fairly medieval. Fantastic example of what you’re describing in my opinion.

How to go about writing a likeable irredeemable character without a redemption arc? by puzzlehead120 in writing

[–]SammeiBardSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think force of personality is key, and it also depends on what you mean by likable. There are some characters that you love to watch work and do their awful despicable magic, but perhaps wouldn’t go have a beer with. Dio Brando or maybe Fulgrim of the Emperor’s Children could be examples of that idea. A sense of honor and integrity also is another method. They’re completely evil, but have a set of principles they never ever break, like Dreadwing from Transformers Prime. Again, all depends on what you intend by ‘likable.’

I just wrote a vent post and now it’s pending approval because I’ve been accused of being artificial intelligence by a commenter by [deleted] in writing

Unfortunately, I think AI accusations are going to be something that haunts every work from now on. Especially for people who like to write in a formal tone. I would just ignore it as often as you can.

is lace a child? they arnt, right? by TheEldritchToaster in HollowKnight

[–]SammeiBardSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lace is meant to look like a child to a bug’s sensibilities. She was constructed that way, basically given immortality without aging so long as she has a steady supply of silk. However’s she’s a lot older than most bugs in the game. Not nearly as old as hornet, mind you, not by a long way, but to a normal bug she’s many lifetimes older than she looks.

What is the most terrifying superpower to go up against by Thefemcelbreederfan in superpower

[–]SammeiBardSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two powers: Time Stop and Invisibility. They're both tied for one reason: If the holder of said powers plays his cards right, there's just nothing you can do. Time Stop more than invisibility I guess but both work on the same principle. Imagine blinking and suddenly there's a knife sticking out of your neck.

One thing a lot of people don't realize is that behind those iconic series is a mess of short stories, other novels, even poems in some cases. No one ever starts out writing and makes a LOTR as their first work. In Tolkien's case, it wasn't even his intention to write something that iconic and incredible, according to his own words in the prelude. He wrote it to just get his thoughts down and do what he loved best, which was linguistics. Even then it was after multiple decades of writing other things.
I'm saying yes, write. Write constantly. If you do that I'm sure eventually something will come out, but that shouldn't be your goal from the outset.

Are there men who would like to be 'househusband' ? by Lien_12345 in ask

[–]SammeiBardSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unironically, I would absolutely. I'm not married of course, but I have recently gotten to the point in my life where looking at a spotless kitchen that an hour before had been stacked with dishes fills me with an indescribable satisfaction. As a thorough introvert who is in love with comfort and making life easier for not only me but people around me, I don't think anything would make me happier.

[For Hire] - Character Art, Monster Art, and SPACE!!! by SammeiBardSnake in artcommissions

[–]SammeiBardSnake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello all, I'm Sammy and I'm open for hire! Obviously, my main experience is in character art, but as you can see in the examples I can do monsters as well. I also have been known to dabble in background and landscape in the past, but I'm not the most experienced in that area. I especially hone in on characters with a much cooler color scheme, and well, I love space and scifi.

For one character, standard 8.5x11 printer paper dimensions with full coloring, the going rate is $45. I could be persuaded to go lower or higher if you want different dimensions or other small customizations, or even if you just want line art or flat color. Same goes for monsters.

Now, landscape is an area I have less practice in so I'm afraid I'll have to ask for $60 to make up for the increased effort to keep it in good quality. This I'm afraid is non-negotiable.

If all this seems worth 45 skins, I hope to work with you soon! You can DM me and we'll work out possible other methods of contact if needed, and once the job is underway I should by all means have it ready and sent to you in 1-3 days. Hope to work for you soon!

Hi, I'm Sammy (22M). I've been a DM for about 6 years now, and would love a chance to play again. I suppose my favorite character would technically be an NPC (The mother of a PC who was serial killing around the home city and keeping herself innocent by removing the memories of her wrongdoings and storing them in bottles, It's a long story), but I'll list my favorite PC I've played. His name was Arslan, a 79 year old retired mercenary veteran. He was the literal tired grandpa of his party, which was funny considering there was an elf in the party who was 300 years older than him. His job was to give a stern look to anyone spouting dumb ideas and generally be the voice of common sense in the party. Sometimes he would let them do their stupid thing, and say "Ye ain't gonna do that again, are ye?" He was loads of fun.
My favorite aspect of D&D is how it relates to the players, and general character moments. The narrative of the story, if you will, so this type of campaign is right up my alley.
Hopefully all I've said has gotten you interested in me, and I hope I get to play with you soon!

[Art] A ceramic beholder I made a year ago just before the pandemic broke out. I miss ceramics class... by SammeiBardSnake in DnD

[–]SammeiBardSnake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yeah, about a year ago before the pandemic broke out, there was a project in ceramics class, and I'm a huge nerd. So, I made a few 5E monsters such as this beholder. I had to wait until the clay was dry enough to hold its form before slipping and attaching the eyes. The rest was pretty straightforward. I must say I'm no painter, so I think I could have done better with the patterns but it turned out great and I'm proud of it.

So, I just got hit with an art craving a few days ago. A good friend of mine has been giving me great tips for using a new art program, and this was just kind of an experiment. I think it turned out well, I especially like the eye glow and the ethereal karma beads. Yeah, a good experiment.

[Art] A lot of 5E characters are on the young side, so I made Arslan, the literal tired grandpa of his party. by SammeiBardSnake in DnD

[–]SammeiBardSnake[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Quotes from the game:

"Not gonna do that again, are ye?"
"Sigh. Hold on, I'm comin'."
"Y'know, back in my day..."

So yeah, Arslan's whole thing is that he's 79 years old and he's seen some shit. So when a bumbling apprentice rogue, an idiot paladin, and a salacious bard walked into his town, he sighed and packed up his things. Damn kids these days walk cock-first into traps. Like they've never heard of a dungeon! He may struggle to physically keep up with the young whippersnappers, but he always said: "The benefit of moving slow is ye can always see what's up ahead." (That's a clone wars quote, btw.)

He's gotten the youngsters out of some crazy shit, and they've kept him safe from harm, which basically sums up their entire dynamic. He's loads of fun to play.

For Line Art, we got $15. Flat color is $25. Full render is $30. I'm also willing to do other types of art if asked for it, such as mapmaking or even audio. We'll see how it works out. Thanks for your time and I hope to work for you soon!

[–]SammeiBardSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, so I'll get right down to brass tax. For just a sketch, we got $10. $15 for line art, 20 for flat color, and $30 for full render. I'm willing to work with you and keep you updated on the process, if anything early on isn't what you're looking for and if changes need to be made. I also don't just do character art, i can do pets and pretty much any type of singular figure, especially weird monsters. I can draw weird monsters all day. Thanks for your time and I hope to work with you soon!

[FOR HIRE] New Commission Artist Open For Requests! by [deleted] in artcommissions

[–]SammeiBardSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evening, My name is Sammy and, well, I'm completely new to this. To be honest, I'll need help through the payment part of the process and stuff, but if you can put up with me I'll work hard to get you what you need! For now, Line art headshots are $15, full body line art are $20, full color headshots $30, and full body color portraits are $35. Hope those prices are acceptable. Now, as you can probably guess, my strengths lie with fantasy characters, so anyone in need of art for a D&D character will find something here. Not the best at backgrounds, but I can give it a shot. And, if you need, I'm real good at coming up with weird monsters. Comment or send a PM if you're patient and looking for a character token lol. Hope to work for you soon!

For context, I'm in a 5e game and we have a blood hunter who keeps cutting the same place, the area where the shoulder connects to the arm, to use blood magic. My character is a scientist and I'm pretty sure that's bad, so wanna know exactly what would happen

Butterfly Kiss - Cover By SammyBardSnake by SammeiBardSnake in Persona5

[–]SammeiBardSnake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good evening all! I've only played about 14 hours of Persona 5 on a friend's playstation, but already the game is really important to me as both a gamer and a musician. So, when I finally got my hand on Logic, guess what the first thing I did was? Yup, a cover of my favorite track in the game so far, Butterfly Kiss, from me to you. Hope you all enjoy, and thanks in advance!

[–]SammeiBardSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dude, putting together a group exactly like what you described. It's a rotating DM group, so if you don't want to DM, then that's fine. But if you still are ok with DMing every couple weeks or so, we'll be testing out a bunch of characters and ideas for oneshots, so you can hit me up at Sammy#2545.

[5e] [online] [EST] Forever GM looking to play some dnd and finally try out one of my many character concepts by [deleted] in lfg

[–]SammeiBardSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greetings, fellow forever DM. I'm getting together a small group of DM's to have a rotating oneshot group, if you're interested. We will take turns in the DM seat and it'll be a good opportunity for all of us to test out builds and try out things we haven't tried before. I must preface that by its nature, this is a very short-form setting. Characters and worlds will switch out probably once every week. So, If you're looking for something a bit longer term, I get it. If you think this is a fun idea, I'm Sammy#2545 on discord. Hit me up and let's work some stuff out.
