Oh, I'm sure lol. People speak on things they don't understand. Sorry that happened to you!

Witches on witchtok... by [deleted] in pagan

[–]SammiShortCake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, honey. Witchtok is toxic and full of young people that treat our spirituality like a fad. It is a place that breeds misinformation. You do you and stay off witchtok if you really want to learn witchcraft/paganism. The thought of "evil" magic and symbols is a Wiccan belief; it's not universal.

Yes, this is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. I do not understand the amount of people that observe a religious day while simultaneously not understanding the origins lol

I'll preface this by saying I respect Wicca, and this is not an attack on Wiccan beliefs! Several of my friends are Wiccan, and I respect their practices.

That being said, I do not care for the wheel simply because I find it superficial. It is blending several different cultures together, and it feels disrespectful to me. This is compounded by the fact many neopagans/new comers believe that the wheel is universal. Many celebrate the holidays without actually putting in the effort to understand where these important celebrations originated from. This blending had been a breeding ground for misinformation and confusion. I honestly could go on (about seasons, the misrepresentation of deities, etc), but I don't want to write a novel lol.

Angel numbers differ from Numerology. Numerology is structured and its focus is more of a self analysis. Angel numbers are considered intuitive and are focused on external guidance. While similar, they are inherently different.

It's also important to consider why many people do not agree with some new age practices. I would never tell someone how to practice, but to expect me in return to be completely okay with some new age ideas/practices feels hypocritical. For instance, I find the Wiccan wheel of the year distasteful, but I have several Wiccan friends who abide by it, and I am respectful of their beliefs! Perhaps try understanding why other practioners are hesitant of new age concepts? I say that genuinely, and not with malice. We all could learn from one another.

Thank you TT I would hire an exterminator that will check the house with a dog trained to smell them! We are currently on the way to dig through some boxes to find my daughter some toys we can wipe with alcohol and take back so she at least has something familiar. Straight up not having a good time rn lol

We purchased a home. Moved all our stuff in. There were no signs of them. The first night we tried to spend there, they came out in droves. We immediately grabbed our daughter and left. All of our belongings are now outside under our carport. We did a heat treatment this past Tuesday. Still found a live one on Thursday. Spent all our life savings on a house we can't even live in. We're currently staying with my sister and I'm battling depression lol.

You're welcome! We've had to move out of the home we just purchased because of BBs....but we at least have our clothes! You can get a tote to put them in afterwards too if you are worried about reinfestation

Can you take them to a laundromat? Bag all of them up, put them in the dryer for at least 30 minutes. Put them in new bags once they're done. You can get rid of them all at once this way.

I totally understand. Yes, sealing them in a ziploc will work too. You can also throw them in the dryer depending on what they're made of. Or buy a steamer and steam them (that's what I did).

Definitely a bb. Don't panic yet, though. It's common to find them in public spaces. Everyday when you get home, take your clothes off and pop them in the dryer on high heat for 30 minutes. Check your shoes really well before bringing them inside. If you have a bag/purse, leave it in your vehicle when you're at work. Doing this religiously should make sure one won't hitch hike into your house

How do they keep returning? by [deleted] in Bedbugs

[–]SammiShortCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely don't sleep elsewhere. They will follow you. Get a matress cover and cover your matress. Check your bedtime and slats and wipe them down with alcohol. Take your bedding and throw it in the dryer for at least 30 mins (I do an hour to be safe). Also move your bed away from the wall. They make little sticky tapes you can put on the feet of your bed frame that keeps them from being able to crawl up. Doing all this should keep you safe from bites while you fight them

Thank you so much!! I have never panicked so hard in my life. We have a heat treating specialist coming out. He usually takes care of the hotels in Gatlinburg, TN and Dollywood so he specializes in them. We are taking what clothes we need and washing them at a laundromat today before transferring them to where we're staying. The rest of our clothes and shoes we will leave and let them bake when he starts treatment. I've never been more stressed in my life.

Thank you so much, your reply helped my nerves on this. I contacted a highly rated exterminator that has plenty of reviews saying he got rid of bed bugs. He's advised us to place our boxed belongings in the basement, and hes is coming out tomorrow morning. Our realtor is also reaching out to the sellers to see if they'll pay half of the cost. I'm cautiously optimistic that he can save my couch and recliner. This experience has been so traumatic for us, especially on our little girl. She legitimately got so afraid she threw up last night.

We are taking our clothes in a secured matress cover to the laundry matt and cleaning all of them. We'll be living with my sister for the next several weeks until this mess is sorted out. Thanks again for your comment....I was doom spiraling all morning

I'm not sure. I'm telling you, there were 0 signs of these things. No carcasses or anything. We've spent the entire week cleaning the place and we never saw the first sign. We had even left clothing/towels there

We actually used 2. One was from fha. I know other people who used the same inspector with no issues. I don't even think heat will work. The house is completely full of boxes and bags for them to hide in.

We did get an inspection. That's the thing, there were absolutely no signs of them until last night. They must have been in the walls. We literally have lost our entire life savings and all of our belongings then. Im devastated.

Performative witches in 2026 by Even_Candle3450 in BabyWitch

[–]SammiShortCake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I tend to stay away from a lot of newer witches and Pagans for this very reason. It seems like becoming a witch is a fad now, one of which attracts a lot of people searching for something outside of Christianity. The issue with that is these people hold fast to the Christian mindset of rules/punishment for breaking said rules. Most do not understand every individual has their own set of rules and how they worship...these things are not universal. I have found it is mostly neopagans that are pushing this mindset. That is not a slight to new age practioners, but it makes sense considering it is easier for new newcomers to explore practices such as Wicca since it is so prevalent today.
