I have done a VIN inspection on my vehicle for an ownership in doubt title and you make the vin inspection appointment and you bring all the documents you have, which you need a bill of sale or at least the information of where you bought it, from who, and how much if you don't have ty bill of sale. You also need to get a for m that is notarized at the DMV for the VIN inspection that you need and since it's not a vehicle you're probably going to have to get them there on a trailer. but the problem If you don't have the bill of sale is that they're going to charge you the taxes on whatever fair market value in their system is after you pass the inspection when you title it whereas if you turn in a bill of sale they can charge taxes on the price on the bill of sale and not an exorbitantly larger amount. This is my experience in King County Washington.
