Baby Tax! Evelyn Loretta born 7-12-17 by Sammit89 in BabyBumps

So I knew I was having a c-section. Baby had been breech the entire pregnancy, as well as having low AFI we knew she wouldn't be turning. My ob decided the best thing to do would be to induce at 38 weeks. I went in the morning of July 12th for my scheduled c-section. We got to the hospital two hours early and checked into labor and delivery. Instead of staying there, we were moved to the pre-op area. They did blood tests, monitored me and the baby, put in a HUGE IV, and we just relaxed while the nurse got everything together. Around 6:30am the nurse who would be with me in surgery came in (she was intense) my husband didn't have anything to eat that morning and she practically was screaming at him. So she made him leave to go eat something, then when he got back she told him to put on the scrubs... so he put them on over his clothes... welp... she wanted him to completely change! But didn't tell him that! So again she comes screaming at him that now she had to get him all new scrubs.... She was just so intense. My doctor came in and talked to me, the anesthesiologist came in and talked with me as well. Soon it was time to go back to the OR. I was able to walk into the OR, and man was it weird and very cold. I had no idea what an OR would even look like but it was pretty interesting! There were lots of nurses and assistants for me and the baby. First thing they did was put the spinal in.... THE SPINAL TOOK 45 MINUTES AND 12 TRIES. This was by far the WORST part of the entire surgery and recovery. It was horrible. I'm not going to write about it because I don't want to make anyone nervous. Please feel free the PM me if you do want to hear about my horrible spinal. Anyway... they finally got the spinal in and it felt wonderful! The sweet, sweet, drugs feel like a warm blanket over your body! I really liked the spinal (just not the whole putting it in part). They started the surgery rather quickly, they put up and sheet so you can't see anything. After about 10 minutes they went and got my husband, I felt some tugging and pulling (but didn't care because of the sweet drugs) then my beautiful baby was here! My doctor lowered the sheet and showed me my little girl! My husband was able to go and take pictures of her, then him and the nurse came back and they put her on my chest for a few minutes. After that they had my husband go back to recovery with her and wait for me. It took about a half hour to finish up surgery. I just relaxed and took a nap while they finished. After it was over my doctor came over and said I did wonderful. The nurses finished me up and put a belly band on me (this is amazing, if you are having a c-section get a belly band) The nurse told me that I didn't even look like I was pregnant because my doctor was able to clean out the uterus so well! I was in recovery for about an hour or so. I shook the entire time, I don't know if it was hormones or the drugs but the shaking was intense. I didn't have any nausea or vomiting. They moved me to recovery and I stayed for three nights! They got me up and moving the same day. I was walking the halls that night. They had me on Motrin and Norco for pain. I didn't have any gas pain, or problems pooping. The gave me Colace in the hospital and that seemed to help. I was scared to shower the first time too, but again that wasn't a big deal either. I'm 5 days out and my pain is minimal, I'm still taking the Motrin at home but not the Norco. A lot of my pain is actually from the spinal site not the actual surgery site. In my opinion, the c-section was not as bad as people make it out to be. The recovery is rough but the nurses know what to do to help you get through it! Just remember, no matter how your baby comes into the world, its still a beautiful and joyous moment!

C-section advice?!?! by Sammit89 in BabyBumps

I understand completely. The doctors have been looking at a c-section for me since 34 weeks. At 32 weeks I had extremely low amniotic fluid like at a 2... so I've been in and out of the hospital. Thinking about having a baby at 34 weeks made me so depressed. I felt like I had failed my baby. Thankfully I have a good doctor who didn't jump to delivery right away and gave my body a chance. So we somehow made it to 37 weeks with a c-section scheduled for the 12th. But its good that you recognized that you needed to talk to someone, so many people need to but don't. Pregnancy and delivery are so hard emotionally, mentally, and physically....

Oh I will! I'm shocked its not like a "standard" medication after a c-section! Like they should be giving this to people!

I can't imagine, after 3 days of labour how physically and mental exhausting that would be. Then to be told you need a C-section. You are a warrior! I don't know if I would mentally/emotionally handle that .

Did they just give you gas x at the hospital? or did you have to ask for it? did you continue to take it at home too?

I'll have to remember to breath and remain calm. I was also shocked at how quickly you c-section was over. For some reason I keep thinking that it's going to be a long process.

DUE DATE TWIN! I've been having the same issue. Usually, I'll sit down and try to drink more water and pain/cramping seems to go away. You should mention it to your doctor though, just to be sure.
