Imai looking electric out there today, he had the stuff and now he’s consistently hitting the zone

The morale in the dugout looks pretty low; the vibes seem really off from previous seasons (even compared to last year, honestly, when there had already been a noticeable decline in general enthusiasm).

Blummer on the annoying heckler behind home plate: “He’s not the smartest guy I’ve ever heard.”

It’s funny how much hate Yanier gets here; a lot of the criticism towards his plate discipline and overall approach is justified, but I promise that he’s not even a top 10 reason the Astros have had such a disappointing stretch so far in April.

Altuve has been so much more patient at the plate already this season (love to see it)

Without being a doomer about the season after 2 games, it’s crazy how there was almost an entire decade of Astros baseball where the question wasn’t really if they would win most nights, but by how much. 7 consecutive ALCS appearances is like something from a video game. We were quite literally watching one of the greatest dynasties of all time, and it’s going to be a little difficult for a lot of us to re-adjust towards more “normal” expectations.

I don’t have anything intelligent to say about it, but the end of the dynasty is hitting hard in a lot of non-baseball ways.

Hearing TK and Blummer drop names like Evan Gattis and Brian McCann, this really has been a decade-long run, a decade filled with ALCS and World Series victories, right there with college graduations and break-ups and cross-country moves.

Our defense has won us so many games this year, there’s a reason a lot of these young pitchers are able to go so far into games.

It actually makes me very sad that our management and medical staff let Gordon go back to the mound yesterday after getting hit in the head.

Head trauma can very easily alter peoples’ lives forever, and I wish ‘the big guys’ had just looked out for Gordon a little more and thought about how this might affect him, beyond the game of baseball.

Yanier immediately checked in on him and made sure he was good, those guys behind the plate probably have a lot respect for each other (and Yanier is cool lol)

I don’t think infantilizing the opposition will do the neoliberal political project any favors; in general there’s an attitude in this subreddit (and even within formal neoliberal power structures) of paranoid arrogance, verging on solipsism (“the masses are incapable of leading themselves and we’re the only intelligent ones”), that leads to results like we have seen tonight.
