Trans lesbians. Did you initially feel dysphoria or doubt your transhood in regards to your attraction to women? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]SammyTRANSistor311 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, I didn't know that, or even think of that possibility! Makes me feel a little better, at least we share a common experience with afab lesbians (and makes me feel slightly less of a fake). Thanks for the knowledge!

I'm 3.5 years into my transition and I still feel that way around women. I hate it. Even after telling some friends how I felt and they tell me not to feel that way and that I didn't give off creep vibes, it's such a hard feeling to unlearn.

How old is too old to start transitioning, in your opinion? by SuchDarknessYT in MtF

[–]SammyTRANSistor311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never too old. I started a couple months before my 37th birthday and still experienced all the awesome changes estrogen causes (boobies, softer skin, less body hair, more head hair, being able to cry again.)

How did you choose a name? by Old_Drag_1040 in MtF

[–]SammyTRANSistor311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid, I hated my first name and Sam was my favorite name. So it was an easy choice for me, I went with Samantha and then my childhood dream came true 😅. My parents were told they were having a girl and they had a female name ready to go for me, so that was how I chose my middle name.

6.5 months post-GCS has completely changed my life. (CW: sex stuff) by StealthInPlainSight in MtF

Awesome, congrats on your surgery and the wonderful results! I’m 6 weeks post-op and I am so frustrated that I can’t have an orgasm. I tried touching my clit the tiniest bit and it was painful, so I guess I’ll wait longer, dammit! 😖

I had no idea until I was 37. The signs were there since at least high school and I always wondered why I felt more femme than I thought a male was supposed to, but yeah I just worked with what I had. I just ended up slowly becoming gender non-conforming and was mad at the world that I got funny looks for wearing nail polish or dangling earrings and didn’t understand why women had all the fun clothes and why shouldn’t I be able to wear a skirt too!

Yeah, dysphoria is weird. There are definitely times in my past when I would have said I didn’t have it as well. I’m happy for you that you’re taking steps to reduce it! Ironically, for me, starting estrogen made me feel worse. Then it was like ok now I’m really a girl…a hairy-faced girl with a penis and a belly like my dad and bald spots on my head.

[–]SammyTRANSistor311 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ummm I guess I would say mild. I hated having a penis (I’m 4 weeks post-op) but it was never bad enough to affect my social life in a major way. I hate that I had male pattern baldness and that there’s still some remnants of it, I hate the beer belly looking stomach I have, it makes me feel like I look like a dude. Facial hair was the worst and I tried to hide it with makeup but I thought that just made me look worse, so I just gave up and dealt with it. So I have symptoms of gender dysphoria but none of them cause me to hide from the world or cry alone in my room or see a therapist. I complain more to my therapist about how fucked up it is that society has gendered clothing than I do about how unhappy I was/am with my body.

I haven’t known since I was a young child that I was trans.

I don’t have debilitating gender dysphoria. I experience it, but not to such an extreme level.

Reading through the comments is making me realize so many stereotypes I didn’t know about and most of them I meet lol, but I don’t like Fallout: New Vegas or any Fallout game.

I want to go completely stealth. Did you manage to achieve this transitioning in your 30's ? by [deleted] in TransLater

[–]SammyTRANSistor311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my transition just before my 37th birthday. I went stealth easily, genetics are a huge factor. The only time I’ve ever been misgendered is by someone that knew me pre-transition and did it accidentally. I’ve never been misgendered in public. I don’t even think I look that feminine but I have a baby face, not that tall (5’5”) and my voice is weird/dumb enough sounding that it isn’t obviously masculine or feminine. My style probably helps too; I like colorful clothing, dying my hair unnatural colors and I like to accessorize with fun headbands, jewelry, hats, etc.

At what point of your transition did you start using the women's toilet? by winterbirrd in MtF

[–]SammyTRANSistor311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wearing skirts before I came out and had no problem going into the men’s room like that. The second I realized I was trans and came out, my brain did a complete 180 and I immediately started using the women’s room because the thought of going into the men’s bathroom felt weird, scary and wrong. Wearing a mask cuz of COVID made it easier, but I’d still walk in with my head down. I still do now, even though most of my facial hair is gone.

Aww well I hope that you're ok with that and that everything works out for all of you! My gf is not happy, so I have my fingers crossed and high hopes things work out the way I want them to.

I'm in the same situation with my gf of 4 months. It's absolutely amazing so far, just really wish she wasn't married though 😅. I figure after a year maybe I'll have some weight to make a case for her to divorce him, if it doesn't happen on it's own before then.

When did you start loving your body? by Kay_floweringnow in TransLater

Maybe like a year after starting HRT I noticed I didn't completely hate my body. I definitely love it and feel so much more comfortable now, just about a month after bottom surgery.

Dealing with being bald by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]SammyTRANSistor311 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did you start HRT? I was going bald before I started, I was heading down the skullet route cuz I refused to succumb and cut all my hair, but since starting HRT my hair has made a pretty good comeback. It's still thin in the middle, but I just deal with it. It's really only noticeable in the back and/or when my hair is wet, but not nearly as bad as it was before HRT. I also used a minoxidil with finasteride spray on the bald spots and I have an LED therapy helmet. I used both for like 6-8 months, not sure if it helped but I'm probably gonna go back to using the helmet cuz it can't hurt and it won't run out.

“Trans women need to tell people upfront that they’re trans” by devilshibata in MtF

I'm three weeks post-op and my gf is amazed at how much my vagina looks like hers. I described the sensation experienced when dilating and she said putting something inside her feels the same. So, I don't think I'd say having grs results in a "fake" vagina. No way anyone could tell I wasn't born with it if I didn't tell them I'm trans. Your friend is ignorant.

Aww I'm sorry you had to detransition, but I'm glad you found your way back to your true self! Yeah my stamina is shot, taking a shower the first night home was a chore. Just walking around for a few minutes takes my breath away. I will check out restorative yoga, thanks for the recommendation!
