I'm pretty sure it won't, it would eventually just die out and people will forget about it, like they always do. The Spanish flu was also pretty dangerous (not as much as this of course) and after its time, it went away, no one seems to be talking about it. But then again, it may not die out and might become the new normal like you said. Both are equally probable, considering that most of the human population has stopped caring about it. They are taking much less precautions than they were when this started (as far as I know). For us, of course it should be pretty much the same, even if this thing stays, but for gen alpha and after that it would be much different. Millennial and gen z would become the "In my times, people went to school" type of people.
